Confederacy

We believe confederacy is too little, too late, and unacceptable.

By living under any type of federation-arrangement in a political entity called Nigeria,  the Igbo are subject to all the same political and economic risks, crimes, mistrust and hatred that are evident now:

  • nothing stops the ethnically dominated military from taking over power and nullifying any confederate structures
  • there is no protection for the Igbo in any other part of Nigeria
  • there is no protection of Igbo property in any other part of Nigeria
  • there is no guarantee that the Igbo can be allowed to develop along her own trajectory, culturally, politically, intellectually or economically.

We cite the Balkan States under Milosevich as an example of how things can, and will go wrong in (this type of) Confederation
