Fellow Biafrans:

Before we get to a world now suffering pain on account of global Oil crisis, in the center of which is Biafra, a fact almost absent from the radar screen of the world’s thinking, we want to remind all about the known and ongoing deceptive ways of Nigeria, especially in its dealings with Biafra. Several weeks ago, a court in Nigeria announced that MASSOB members held in jail for over 2 years without trial and without bail, were finally granted bail. Today, those same victims of Nigeria’s cruelty, lawlessness and human rights violations, are still in Nigeria’s jails: these include Uchenna Madu, the MASSOB Director of Information, Ambrose Anyanso, other officials of MASSOB, and other members of MASSOB. The wicked Nigerian authorities set the bail preconditions too high for our people, not just in terms of money, but also, with regards to personal sureties acceptable to Nigeria, thereby making it practically impossible for our people to benefit from such belated (in the first place) grant of bail. What a cruel mockery of justice! Today, even citizens of old colonial powers cringe in shame and squirm with discomfort when reminded that colonialists employed this same malicious practice against indigenes of the land during colonial times. Yet, today, we see Nigeria shamelessly borrowing the same inhumane tactics and practice against our people. Therefore, our only effective response, while always sticking to Biafra actualization / Biafra-only for our people, is to stand as one people and demand with one voice the immediate release of these and all other MASSOB members being held in various Nigerian jails today. In this, we note that even the (new) leadership of Ohaneze now joins us in calling for the release of our people if Nigeria won’t put them on trial, knowing full well that Nigeria does not want to go to trial on obvious shaky legal grounds. That’s a first for Ohaneze, and it’s about time; the message now is: let us all join hands, heads and minds together and have our people released from Nigeria’s jails.

What is in fact our crime for seeking Self Determination in the form of Biafra Sovereignty and Independence for our people? What indeed is our crime for wanting to leave a dead-end State called Nigeria where nothing works and life only marches backwards—with glee—until painful death? What is our crime for going our own way when Nigeria has thoroughly rejected our people as members, never mind equals, and forcibly keeps us repressed, suppressed, oppressed, dispossessed, humiliated and subjugated? If it be a crime to seek and get Biafra, then, we are glad to be criminals; let the others get what they deserve as Nigerians and in Nigeria—we would never envy them their lot.

Today, through the mechanism of Oil crisis, the world has felt just a little pinch of what we have been suffering under Nigeria for the past half-a-century or so. The degradation of security—in fact, the complete lack thereof—the instability of the entire panhandle of Africa, the violence, and unaffordable living, all tied to and tied in with Biafra Oil and the disruption of its flow, is no longer just our own curse. The world feels just a little of the pain because it is not getting its wonted supply of Oil, and is therefore forced to pay a little attention. So, while we have its attention, we want to remind the world and those who want to, or would be forced to, listen, that this entire debacle is really about Biafra, period. The Oil itself resides, for the most part, in Biafra. Biafra owns the Oil, not Nigeria. Nigeria may misuse State powers and unilaterally issue edicts usurping indigenous lands and minerals contained therein with its so-called “Land Use Decrees.” But, it does not change the fact or reality of the natural ownership of the Lands nor truncate the accrued natural rights of their ownership. All that would result from Nigeria’s greedy, illegal and criminal actions is what we are all suffering right now—all of us, including the rest of the world.

Today, through the impetus of the Oil Crisis, we remind the world that only Biafra can bring stability and security to the region, and as such, stabilize Oil flow and commerce therein. Biafra is the owner of the Oil: restoring ownership to the rightful owner as a basic first step to settlement of instability and insecurity is not a counter-intuitive notion. Respect for individual ownership rights, communal ownership rights, and the inviolability of such property and other ownership rights has always been a basic tenet of the Biafra culture and tradition. Under Biafra, each individual or family, and each community has the right of complete ownership of what is on or under its respective landed property. This includes total control and management of all aspects of such property. The role of Biafra as a government in this area is, first and foremost, to ensure that such rights of ownership are upheld and protected; next is to exercise any delegated intermediary powers authorized by the people, on behalf of the people, in order to ensure proper conduct of inter-State commerce in accordance with internationally and diplomatically accepted standards, norms, processes and practice of Global Trade. Biafra, as an entity and as a government, also provides the Context as well as the Structure and Technicalities for stability and security in the territory. Biafra provides Capacity, a necessary requirement for effective function, efficiency and success in managing the economy of scale fuelled by Oil trade. And, Biafra will diversify the economy and effects of the region, based on the proven talents, entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic of the Biafran people, in addition to other natural material endowments, in order to prevent over-reliance on Oil. With Biafra in place, Oil commerce in the region will no longer be disrupted by the type of dysfunction presently known to, and experienced by, the world today.

We do not just encourage the world but we urge and enjoin the world to support Biafra. With Biafra in place, the world can enjoy a steady supply of Oil from the region limited only by industrial production-capacity. With Biafra in the region, Oil work and trade will be done in a safe and secure setting, conducive to good business practices, and to proper environmental and biosphere protection and stewardship. We remind the world that with international support, Biafra can be in place not in a matter of years but in a matter of months—single digit for that matter: remember that the United Nations Resolution A/61/295 already recognizes and supports the rights of Ethnic / Indigenous Nations such as Biafra to Self Determination; and recall that Nigeria’s disintegration is predicted imminent—practically a given. This means that it is up to the world to decide if it really wants to eliminate the disaster-promoting variables contributed by the problems of Nigeria to the deepening Oil Crisis, a crisis with the potential to last years and carrying with it a real threat to world peace and stability. The world, on the other hand, can decide wisely and choose Biafra, the rightful resource owner, as such to give the region a chance for peace and growth, as well as stability and security, and in so doing, stabilize the Oil market, for the sake of peace for the world, too. Or, the world can continue with Nigeria, thereby condemning itself to more of the same insecurity and instability and even much worse consequences looming in the horizon, without a chance of reprieve, and with the real possibility of serious public rebellion, societal upheaval and inter-regional conflict. We choose Biafra; we trust the world does, too: Biafra is the wise choice.

Biafra alive! Because it is God Who makes it so.
