This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts

For January 11, 2008

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

Fellow Biafrans:

As we leave the festivities of the season behind, we have to gird our loins for serious work ahead this year. This is the year when we score key victories for Biafra in our actualization process for Biafra. If we do nothing, we shall certainly drown in Nigeria, in at least two ways: Nigeria itself is drowning; and Nigeria is also determined to strangle us first before it gives up her own ghost. Allow us to refresh your memory:

During the last 4 years of Obasanjo’s rule in Nigeria, did anyone record any forward movement for Nigeria? No! Instead, Obasanjo led Nigeria in his famous 5-step dance which he earlier described himself: “one step forward, 2 steps sideways, and 2 steps backwards,” regarding Nigeria. The Dance of the Doomed: the Dance of Nigeria, the Dance that is Nigeria. This backward movement was so obvious in the last 2 years of that sick rule: for those years, all of Nigeria, including him, was totally focused on his failed third term grab and its implications. Nothing else was accomplished in and by a Nation (a failed one) with billions of easy petrodollars garnered from Oil Wells in Biafra constantly flowing in. Nothing of positive substance!

During the same time, Obasanjo and his Nigeria did everything possible to punish our people. He and Nigeria insulted our people gratuitously, as often as he could. Obasanjo wrote and carried out Nigerian policies to selectively ban and criminalize legitimate businesses engaged in by our people. He made sure that bridges and roads in our land (where there were any functioning ones to start with) did not work; that airports in our land remained small even though our people are the most travelled in the region. He and Nigeria suppressed whatever educational institutions we have left in our land, while at the same time funding and promoting such institutions in Nigeria. Obasanjo and Nigeria changed the rules of politics midstream and in broad daylight to make sure that no one from our land would hold any position of influence in Nigeria’s system. Obasanjo and Nigeria went after non-violent MASSOB with predictable and characteristic but unconscionable vengeance, in so doing, making every Biafran a collateral victim. This is at a time when violent OPC members were being rewarded with posts in Obasanjo’s regime, and OPC was used to protect Obasanjo himself from deserved prosecution; and for their part, the Muslim North had its own Talebans fighting street-battles with Nigeria’s armed guards, with no reprisals other than battle casualties.

Yes, we want to remind you, in case you forgot. In the nine months following the fraud called Nigeria’s elections of 2007, on the one hand, Nigeria continues its backward dance; on the other, Nigeria continues its life-squeezing policies against our people. Check for yourself: have Yar’Adua and his government done anything to advance Nigeria? No way. Everyday since then, he and Nigeria are focused on activities dealing with the rigged elections which brought him to power, else on gaming around EFCC’s activities, with nothing positive to show as accomplishment for the peoples, even as Petrodollars pour into the thieving corrupt coffers of Nigeria, Yar’Adua, and his circle of friends, including Obasanjo, at a greater rate. The world looks on in shock and disbelief, though with disdain, as Nigeria continues to go down, awash in Oil money—Biafra’s Oil, that is.

That is one aspect; meanwhile, to fulfill the other aspect, Yar’Adua, in continuation of Nigeria-Obasanjo’s pernicious policies against Biafra, continues to “pepper” our people, with brazen marginalization in politics; total exclusion from benefits which the other regions are rewarded with, and malicious insult and neglect of our people.

So, you can see that Nigeria continues to drown; and you can also see that Nigeria continues to engage in wiping put Biafra before Nigeria’s own assured and predictable death: nothing has changed with a new Nigerian administration; nothing has changed in a New Year.

That’s why we must double our efforts to actualize Biafra this year. In all these years of Nigeria and Obasanjo, MASSOB fought back for our people, pushing for Biafra actualization; other pro-Biafran organizations, including Biafra Foundation (BF) and Biafra Actualization Forum (BAF), fought back for our people; and we rallied our people to support Biafra, and our people reacted positively and with courage, doing everything we have asked them to do. This year, we—MASSOB, pro-Biafran Groups—will do more; our people have demonstrated that they will do more. The Biafra Provisional Government (BPG) has also entered into the equation, and will be working very hard towards Biafra actualization this year.

Next week, we start by supporting and attending the Funeral of our Biafra Mother, Ezinne Uwazurike, in Okwe, Biafraland, on January 19th. Following that, there will be more activities.

Remember: if we do nothing, we perish—not just are we going to perish with Nigeria, but Nigeria is determined to finish us off first before its own downfall. We won’t let that happen: Biafra is our answer.

In the meantime, we want Yar’Adua and Nigeria to know that all MASSOB members in Nigeria’s jails, including Uchenna Madu, other MASSOB officials, and other MASSOB rank-and-file members have to be released from Nigeria’s jails, immediately and unconditionally.

Biafra alive! Because it is God Who makes it so.

That’s the News Analysis for the week. Thank you.
