This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts

For December 7, 2007

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

Fellow Biafrans:

Regarding the temporary furlough granted Ralph Uwazurike, the leader of MASSOB, from his unjust imprisonment by our persecutor and tormentor, Nigeria, we are now witnessing a lot of “positive” activity by that segment of our population we designate as “Biafrans in Nigeria’s Political Class” (BINPC).  Members of this class include all persons from our land who are involved in Nigeria’s partisan politics—from Governors to LGA officials, from Senators to Representatives; from Nigeria’s Cabinet to Nigeria’s administration and government. Whereas our goal remains the unconditional release of not just Uwazurike, but also, Uchenna Madu, other MASSOB officials, all MASSOB members and all pro-Biafra activists presently languishing in Nigeria’s jails, and whereas the only outcome regarded as positive is the fulfillment of this goal; and whereas “positive” action / activity by any group or individual in this matter is defined as efforts adhering to this goal and outcome; notwithstanding, let it be known that the motives and motivation of BINPC, even in positive action as herein defined, still remain suspect, as is their goal. After all, the only consistent track record for this group is a sell-out of our people in all their undertakings—all, without exception—an unending, inexplicable compromise, yielding and capitulation to Nigeria on every issue, even when it is clear that such an action and its result are completely detrimental to our people.

It has therefore become necessary for VOBI to issue the following strongly worded statement. Keep in mind that long before members of BINPC—“Biafrans in Nigeria’s Political Class”—came into their recently found mettle, VOBI has been on the air telling the world and Nigeria that Uwazurike et al should be released right away, unconditionally; just as VOBI kept the previous case of MASSOB-53 alive until the case was eventually dismissed. That’s years of activism, not mere weeks of flurry of flowing gowns and scurry.

1.    Our people will not forgive BINPC members this time if they misrepresent Uwazurike, MASSOB or Biafra to the Nigerian government by their stating anything other than Truth which is that Uwazurike and MASSOB, and our people for that matter, are agitating for Biafra—yes, for sovereign independent Biafra, just as M-A-S-S-O-B spells out. Neither Uwazurike nor MASSOB nor our people are trying “to make Nigeria better” (whatever that means)—we don’t really care a hoot what becomes of Nigeria: all we care about is to actualize Biafra, our own nation.

2.    Our people will never forgive BINPC members if they go and beg Yar’Adua and Obasanjo and the Caliphates and or Nigeria to release Uwazurike and other MASSOB members. Fawning and groveling and debasing behavior exhibited by this or any group as a means of obtaining the release of our brethren is totally unacceptable and unforgiveable.

3.    It is in the best interest of BINPC members to accept the MASSOB agenda for the actualization of Biafra. It is in their interest to accept what the people really want—Biafra—and use whatever station they find themselves in to support and bring about the fruition of that Biafra hope of our people.

To emphasize our point, it should be clear where our heroes—Ralph Uwazurike and other jailed MASSOB members—stand, and what their attitude is on the matter. Uwazurike has stated time and again that his goal is Biafra actualization; that Biafra is not negotiable, and that, come the end of the period of his furlough, he will gladly and willingly report back to jail promptly if the situation has not been resolved by their unconditional release. On this, we must take a cue from Ralph Uwazurike himself. He has asked that no one should beg Nigeria on his behalf: neither he nor MASSOB are begging Nigeria, but are in fact in a struggle against Nigeria’s continuing imprisonment of our people and its refusal to let our people go, a struggle which he, MASSOB, and we all, intend to win, resulting in Biafra actualization. Uwazurike has asked that no one should misrepresent his intent and that of MASSOB in order to appease Nigeria and perhaps, win their release from Nigeria’s jails—no! Biafra—Biafra actualization—is Uwazurike’s sole intent. Biafra actualization is the sole intent of MASSOB. Biafra / Biafra actualization is the unquenchable desire and sole intent of our people: in fact, it is the unavoidable destiny of our people. Anything else is a misrepresentation in this matter. Uwazurike will not be party to such a misrepresentation, even at the certain risk of his own death. MASSOB would never tolerate such a misrepresentation, even at the real risk of further persecution, brutalization and victimization. And, our people—oh yes, our own very people!—will not forgive such a misrepresentation, and will be enraged into an unpredictable civil action, at whatever risk.

It is important that “Biafrans in Nigeria’s Political Class” (BINPC) hear us—now, and hear us very clearly. It should be that this class need not be reminded of the catastrophic results of their present spinelessness and constant compromise to Nigeria. No amount of sycophancy or compromise brought them their wishful dream, Nigeria’s Presidency, or any single position of influence in Nigeria, for that matter—those things which are of selfish import to them. As for our people and our needs, no amount of sycophancy to Nigeria by this group brought us a new and safe Niger River Bridge, or good motorable roads, or an international airport; no amount of compromise with Nigeria by this group stopped Nigeria from deliberately cheating our people, for example, during Nigeria’s fraud called 2006 Census. This group enjoys motorcades and pompous titles as slaves in Nigeria’s administration while not stopping or bothering to ask why our people are massacred in Northern Nigeria regularly by Northern Muslims; why Nigeria Police shoot-to-kill our fleeing youth in the back on our own streets; why Nigerian security agents murder our people at will, in public, in our own land, without any consequences or enquiry; why our land has been turned into a Nigerian military occupied land when that segment of our people bear no arms against Nigeria. This is a group which was so happy serving Nigeria even while Nigeria deliberately denied the siting of any federal structures in our land; even while Nigeria deliberately targeted and closed our peoples’ businesses and other legitimate means of livelihood, including stifling of educational opportunities and structures for our youth. The world can’t bring itself to accept that such a group with such a record could exist anywhere on this Planet in this day and age.

Hear us, then: Our people will not tolerate such a sell-out any more from this group. So, for whatever reasons this group has now decided to join us in our ongoing struggle for Biafra liberation from Nigeria, for Biafra actualization and for Biafra, part of which is obtaining the unconditional release of Uwazurike and other MASSOB members from Nigeria’s jails, we remind this group of one thing and one thing alone: “…Have in you this Mind which is in Uwazurike…” in the matter of Biafra liberation. Our people will no longer allow anything else from anyone or any group.

Biafra alive! Because it is God Who makes it so.

That’s the News Analysis for the week. Thank you.
