This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts

For November 23, 2007

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

The need to complete our task of Biafra actualization grows more urgent each passing day. Nigeria, Nigerianism, continues to mess up our people, at the same time providing, enabling and sustaining a very corrosive and corrupting environment which also serves to encourage and protect every type of crime and every type of criminal in our land, Biafraland.

It is not enough for Nigeria that every year, hundreds of thousands of Biafran graduates of higher educational institutions—Biafrans in the prime of youth—are forced to provide services for, and in, Northern Nigeria under the scheme of so-called Nigeria “National Youth Service Corp (NYSC).” This NYSC is nothing more than a vehicle for mass exploitation of Biafrans, because Biafrans end up working and developing Northern Nigerian communities, but neither they nor Biafra herself get anything positive in return.  Every year, young Biafran women end up in the North under such a conniving program: there, our young women are taken advantage of in ways we cannot even mention, and in ways they are not ready to discuss. Even Biafran young men, on their part, are indoctrinated to support Northern Nigeria programs—programs against the youths’ own people—and trained to ignore and or deny Northern exploitation of our people (which explains why so many Biafrans in Diaspora still want to keep Nigeria one although the North is the major beneficiary of such a parasitic plot and our people are the ones being sucked dry). How many Northern Nigerian youth have you seen working in Biafraland doing NYSC, and exactly what are they doing, if? How many Northern Nigerian women have you seen doing NYSC in Biafraland? The NYSC is almost always headed by a Northerner, though the North supplies the least number of youth to the program. The funding for NYSC is derived from Biafra Oil revenues, but a Northerner controls the budget. To cap it all, recently, a Northern Nigerian leader boasted that the North has now overtaken the South in development; and that there is now more poverty in the South. Imagine the temerity!

Recall what Nigeria says is the reason for the NYSC? As explained then and understood, it was something like “to build bridges, trust and understanding among the different and dissimilar ethnic nations living in Nigeria, focusing on the youth, the future”—or some lofty ideal like that, right? Well, you now know the truth. Under the cover of NYSC, Nigeria is only using and abusing Biafran men and women, using them as slaves, in slave-labor, to build up Northern Nigeria; and it does so using Biafran resources to run the program, to boot. To bring home the point, do you recall how the feared Nigeria SSS captured and took Ralph Uwazurike, the leader of MASSOB, prisoner two years ago, in order to complete its persecution and torture of Uwazurike and MASSOB, the veritable symbolism of modern Biafra? The SSS had (and still has) every imaginable weapon and means at its disposal to do its dirty job. Yet, the SSS chose to disguise its personnel as NYSC members in order to get close to, and then, abduct Uwazurike.  Did NYSC protest this unthinkable violation? What a show of “building TRUST”? And creating understanding?

Today, our own land—Biafraland— suffers greatly. Erosion is ravaging some areas. Our own towns and villages could use cleaning up. Our own children and our own youth need help—in school, on the streets—with skills and skill-building. There are many opportunities for self-help projects which could be staffed and facilitated and even carried out by our Biafran youth currently sucked in by this cunning program called NYSC.  Is it not said that “Charity begins at home?” Well, as it stands now, that’s not the case for Biafra with regards to our able youth.  To make matters even worse, the same exploited Biafran youth go on to become propaganda-agents and propaganda mouth-pieces for Northern Nigeria and Nigeria against their own Biafran people.

The bad news does not stop there. Today, because of the conditions imposed on our people and on our land by Nigeria, our people are no longer just under siege by Nigeria, but also by desperados and criminals among us. These criminals are resorting to crimes and acts unimaginable in our land before Nigeria’s occupation of Biafraland. Criminals are committing armed robbery routinely against their own families and kin; committing murder against their own flesh and blood, with regularity; and now, the new wave of crimes—kidnap for ransom, of close relatives and townspeople, along with extortion. This has become so rampant that Diaspora Biafrans are afraid to visit home anytime, but especially this Christmas, as is the custom and tradition of Biafrans. Those who brave it stop and stay in Lagos and avoid completing the trip to their hometowns; or try to sneak into their own compounds unannounced in the dead of night. Even then, such must still lie low, practically in hiding, in order not to attract any attention at all throughout their forced-brief stay.  Such “aru” was unheard of in Biafraland before Nigeria’s occupation.

Why is this happening? Because, Nigeria is in control of our land and our people. Nigeria protects these criminals, having first made conditions ripe for such crimes. Nigeria upholds lawlessness in Biafraland, rewards lawlessness, and refuses to protect innocent Biafrans. Nigeria prevents innocent Biafrans from getting together and organizing to collectively protect themselves from known criminals—oh yes, the criminals are well known— among our people. In fact, the Nigeria Police and its agents would rather go against the same innocent Biafrans planning to protect themselves and our land from these criminals, than confront the criminals themselves and stop the crimes.  In any case, Nigeria Police itself is a lawless institution, guilty of the same crimes, and more: why would anyone expect it to maintain law and order in Biafraland? The difference between Nigeria Police occupying and ravaging Biafraland and these criminals in Biafraland is that the Police is for the most part non-Biafrans victimizing our people in our own land; but the criminals are Biafrans victimizing fellow-Biafrans, often, family and fellow clan-members, in our own land. As such, this is another way Nigeria is corrupting us: unheard of, despicable, unmentionable crimes are now commonplace in our own land by our own people against our own people, right under the watch and protection of Nigeria. Since these crimes are getting worse and more brazen, we, Biafrans, have an urgency—and emergency—on our hands, like never before.

The good news is that we have a solution. Not necessarily easy, but it is the effective solution. And, we are equal to the task. Since the release of Ralph Uwazurike, the leader of MASSOB, on furlough from unjust imprisonment by Nigeria, our people have once again openly and courageously demonstrated their full support for Biafra, for Uwazurike, and for MASSOB’s agenda of non-violence liberation of our people from Nigeria. Auspiciously, and due to Divinely inspired timing, the Biafra Charter has come into existence and mandates the formation of the Biafra Provisional Government (BPG) to consist of the Biafra Government in Exile (BGIE) operating from offshore; and the Biafra Shadow Government (BSG) stationed in Biafraland proper. BSG will undertake and provide the Security function (as well as other functions) customary of a government, in our land. BSG will help harness the resources of our people for the aid and welfare of our own people, in our land. That’s how we are going to do it.

Fellow Biafrans: Biafra’s government can only work as effectively as the people of Biafra work. We count on the people of Biafra to work effectively by their giving full support to the Biafra Provisional Government; by our people at home strengthening the BSG and the people in Diaspora strengthening the BGIE; by our home people guiding BSG and working in mutual cooperation. In so doing, we will rescue Biafraland—our land—from further descent into the anarchy and criminality of Hades, and from the Godlessness of conscienceless criminals and their hideous crimes against their own people. In so doing, we can redirect our own resources to serve our own people and improve their lot at this most crucial and needy time for our people. Of course, this also includes securing the unconditional release of Uchenna Madu, other MASSOB officials and all MASSOB members from Nigeria’s Gulags.

Biafra alive! Because it is God Who makes it so.

That’s the News Analysis for the week. Thank you.
