This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts

For November 9, 2007

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

Fellow Biafrans:

The time has come to move boldly to counter with sound principle and confident demeanor any further confusing speak by some Igbo and other Biafrans still claiming that the Igbo are struggling for “a better and fair Nigeria so as to find their place in Nigeria.” If by now any person who thinks and acts as such has not yet learned anything to the contrary, chances are that, like the proverbial “a fool at forty,” he or she will never get it. We all have to stay insistent and consistent to let everyone know and understand that Igbo and other Biafrans are not interested in Nigeria: we want Biafra—only Biafra.

Nigeria has already determined, in any case, the place where it wants Igbo and other Biafrans in Nigeria: slaves, to be raped, humiliated, dispossessed and killed at the whims of their masters; their nation destroyed; their land occupied and destroyed and their resources taken away from them. This is the same place where some Igbo and other Biafran efulefu still clinging to one Nigeria want to beg, crawl and claw their way to hang on to? We say, No way!  We are no longer going to live in that hellhole of a place determined and reserved for us by Nigeria, no! We have Biafra now, and we move to Biafra.

Specifically, we want to address the Igbo and other Biafrans in Nigeria’s Political Class. We are Biafrans, not Nigerians. We want Biafra, not Nigeria. These persons can do what Nigeria has selected them to do in Biafraland, and what Nigeria is paying them for (using stolen Biafran money, anyway). They can do all that without making any more statements in trying to please their masters and justify their pay by falsely committing Igbo and other Biafrans by their words, to Nigeria. The majority of Igbo and Biafrans have been saying “’No!’ to Nigeria” since 1966; more so starting from 1999 when MASSOB was formed; even more so today. Besides, there is no chance that Nigeria will believe anyone who claims that the Igbo or other Biafrans are still interested in one-Nigeria, and even then, Nigeria is not about to believe any Igbo or Biafran who makes such a claim, because it knows better. All Igbo and other Biafrans cozying up to Nigeria are already regarded by Nigeria as spineless, money-loving, self-serving sycophants, hypocrites and liars to be treated with utter contempt and unbridled disdain.

In this vein, we are asking all Biafrans who were enthroned by Nigeria to lord it over our people in Biafraland (whether such are stationed in the Muslim Capital of Nigeria, Abuja, or elsewhere, or in Biafraland proper), to desist from neglecting our peoples’ welfare in favor of handing our resources back to Nigeria. Representatives of every part of Nigeria have always concentrated on grabbing the so-called National Cake to feed its own people, at the expense of “what’s-its-name,-Nigeria”; only the Igbo and Biafrans anointed by Nigeria have consistently failed to ask and do what is best for Biafrans. Instead, everyday, they are extremely busy trying to prove that they are Nigerians, shouting until exhaustion that they are Nigerians, claiming in futility that they are Nigerians. Who has ever seen or heard a Northern politician or leader rooting for Nigeria, or trying to justify Nigeria or their Nigerianism? Yoruba? But, leave it to undisciplined, unlearning, ignorant Igbo and other Biafrans to try to prove that they are more Nigerian than those who reap the loot delivered by Nigeria.

From today onwards, do not tolerate any so-called Biafran leader who is not doing everything possible to focus his or her entire energy and resources on what is good for Biafra and Biafrans. Do not tolerate any so-called leaders in our land who are talking about, and or working on, Nigeria’s interests instead of the interests of the people of Biafra. Expose such, point out the crime to them, because such a focus is indeed a true crime—a crime of the worst type—against our own people of Biafra. Teach them where their interest and focus should lie: Biafra and the people of Biafra; and do not relent until they have learned and complied. Their days of criminal collusion with Nigeria and pernicious neglect of our peoples are really over.

These are the days of Biafra, not Nigeria—days of Biafra—and will now remain so forever. That’s what the repeat performance of our masses welcoming Ralph Uwazurike this week, this time, in Owerri, Biafraland, is confirming—what we have always known. There is no record of any such overwhelming popular reception of any leader in the entire region in the history of the area. Ralph Uwazurike and MASSOB, with the full support of our peoples, successfully restarted the Clock of Biafra and maintained it: it’s Biafra Time now, and remains so forever. We are all in this now—thick and fully immersed—we are Biafra. That’s the meaning of Uwazurike’s well-deserved, consistent Majestic “Home-coming” welcome by the peoples of Biafra.

It makes no sense at all for Nigeria to continue to detain MASSOBians in prison without bail and without trial (and we do not recognize Uwazurike’s FURLOUGH as bail); but Nigeria has never been known to make sense, or to understand “sense,” either. It serves no useful purpose—in fact, it only serves Nigeria’s known nefarious purpose—to continue to press useless charges lacking legal merit against our MASSOBians. Finally, we like to remind Nigeria of UN Resolution A/61/295 supporting the right of Ethnic Nations to exercise Self Determination for their people. While Nigeria chews on that, it should release Uchenna Madu and other MASSOB officials and members in Nigeria’s jails, unconditionally.

Biafra alive! Because it is God Who makes it so.

That’s the News Analysis for the week. Thank you.
