This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts

For September 7th, 2007

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

Fellow Biafrans:

Rest assured that the matter of the Biafra Provisional Government of which the Biafra Government in Exile (BGIE) is a part, and which was announced on August 28 2007, has reached every quarter, and the attention of especially the stakeholders and interested parties, world-wide. And rest assured that the world has taken note that Biafra is back.

It is our responsibility now to demonstrate that we are serious about taking charge of our own Nation’s Destiny—not so much for performing for the world and her stakeholders, but for our own sake: to demonstrate to ourselves our own legitimacy as a Nation, as Peoples; as Human Beings, socially-speaking, with ancestral roots; and as Creations of God, divinely-speaking, imbued with God-given rights. It is now up to us.

Some of you have wondered and wavered because BGIE was not announced on CNN or BBC or VOA. But, just think about it for one moment: neither CNN, BBC nor VOA, feeds you or your family. None of them can take away any of the pain Nigeria is causing you every single day. None stopped the recent public stabbing of a Biafran in broad daylight on a street in Nigeria, while the crowds watched, because he was Igbo-Biafran; nor stopped the ongoing killing of our youth by the Nigeria Police and other murderous Security outfits of the State of Nigeria. None of them will do what you ought to be doing for your own salvation. A two minute-spotlight on the news, granted, yields a certain psychological massage, but still leaves the rest of your 24-hour day, every day, every week, every month, every year-existence to be lived by you moment by moment, unvisited and undocumented—in other words, your life, your misery, your pain: CNN does not care, nor does BBC or VOA.  But YOU care, so it is up to you to do what you have to do about your own life: when you get results, then, CNN, BBC and VOA will be eager to report on such.

Besides, to have our people out on the streets on August 28 or the day after, celebrating a “CNN-report victory,” is not our goal: our goal is to actualize Biafra, and this requires a certain state of mind which calls for disciplined, sustained un-quitting action based on a clear, strong, unequivocal WILL to liberate ourselves from the shackles of Evil Nigeria; and to get Biafra for ourselves and our peoples. We like our people to spend the period surrounding the BGIE announcement reflecting deeply and committing strongly to Biafra actualization, come what may. In other words: Gird your loins; now, more than before, is time to work the cause, stay the course, accomplish the objectives, reach the goal, and materialize that the Most Glorious of Visions, Biafra. As such, this is not about CNN carrying our announcement or not; this is about us focusing on our work, doing it until we get our desired results.

Let us once again emphasize that in actualizing Biafra, we wage neither war nor peace with Nigeria. We simply exercise our rights as Human Beings to do what we must do for ourselves and with ourselves for our own survival, what is right before God and Man. We do not claim or take anything that belongs to Nigeria; we take only what is ours by right of God’s creation of us. Nigeria is a mere State—a failing one at that—like all States, an abstraction; the State owns nothing except what the peoples foisting a State over themselves agree to assign to the State to manage. For the record, we have not assigned to the State of Nigeria any authority to rule us; and the powers usurped by the State of Nigeria to lord it over us are just that—USURPED: we declare that we do not recognize such powers and authority because we gave them not. There is no point at which, or when, a State owns the peoples and the peoples’ lives and properties and their Destiny, never!: these are matters of the peoples and their God, matters of the peoples’ Divine and Human Rights. Any State which has attempted to operate as such has always failed and crumbled, albeit after causing a lot of turmoil and suffering and after spilling unnecessarily the peoples’ blood: History and the World are our witness. For that matter, the modern measure of civilization for any group of People and their State is whether power is owned by and still remains in the hands of the peoples, or with their State.

In other words, we exercise our right to the ownership of our own selves and artifacts, and our own destiny, keeping and using only that which belongs to us. It will be suicidal, if not entirely foolish, to allow any other—institution or otherwise—than we, to run (and ruin) our lives. This is a pragmatic matter: it is existential; it is not a political issue or game. This is the basis of our Creation, Existence, and Life. It is only natural that we all see it that way, and we are encouraged and glad that we see it that way. This, therefore, is not about Nigeria: it is about us as a People, as Creations of God Himself, and our committed, principled action to regain our rights and our lives.

The Biafra Government is ready and willing to work with Nigeria to minimize or eliminate entirely any disruptions that might result in Nigeria from the formalization of the actualization of Biafra, mindful of the fact that how smoothly this process is consummated depends for the most part on the reasonableness and actions of Nigeria. On our part, we make it clear again: we wage neither war nor peace with Nigeria; we actualize Biafra as our own right, as a survival and existential imperative.

In the meantime, we are demanding the release of Ralph Uwazurike, the leader of MASSOB, Uchenna Madu, the Information Director of MASSOB, all other MASSOB officials, and all other members of MASSOB and any other pro-Biafran activists currently languishing in Nigeria’s jails where they have been held without trial and without bail, on incoherent kangaroo-court-type charges by Nigeria, for months and years on end. It is pointless for Nigeria to continue to torture these brethren of ours by deliberately, selectively and wickedly denying them their God-given freedom and depriving them of their civil and human rights. The MASSOB agenda is certainly being carried out by the Biafra Government, without pause, because that’s what the Biafran people want, and that’s will be delivered—guaranteed! Release our MASSOB and pro-Biafran activists, Nigeria! MASSOB is here to stay and enjoys the full support of the people of Biafra.

Biafra alive! Because it is God Who makes it so.

That’s the News Analysis for the week. Thank you.
