This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts

For January 27th, 2007

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

Fellow Biafrans:

We see that foolishness has continued to be the constant shadow and companion of the Igbo and other Biafrans who choose to belong and throng to the Nigerian political class, and of many of those in Diaspora. That is the only reasonable explanation for the fact that WIC (so-called “World Igbo Congress”) is organizing a conference in Biafraland with the goal of selecting and supporting an Igbo candidate for the presidency of Nigeria for another of Nigeria’s planned exercises in fraud and rigging called elections.

If we do not point out the foolishness of WIC’s goal and actions, WIC may never admit it, so let us tell them; we are only too glad to: If any form of elections hold in Nigeria, the presidency has already been given to (or taken by) a Northerner. So, why the charade by WIC (and for that matter, by Ohaneze)—faking even “the going through the motions of”  “electing” an Igbo president of Nigeria?

It gets worse: once the North grab this “Robbers’ Prize”—the Nigerian presidency, that is—neither WIC nor Ohaneze nor Diasporan Igbo / Biafrans can, or will, do anything about it. It gets even “worser.” Many members of WIC belong to PDP. Many officers of WIC belong to PDP. The current so-called Secretary-General of WIC was an unsuccessful contestant on the PDP platform in the recent PDP primaries; yes, it is the same PDP run by Ali and Obasanjo which already zoned, engineered and produced PDP’s presidential candidate: a Northerner. Does this not bring to mind the sad case of Ohaneze where its Political Action Committee Chair, Iwuanyanwu, charged with electing an Igbo president of Nigeria in the 2003 Nigeria elections, did in fact proceed to work—that is, work for Obasanjo’s candidacy, while bragging about such unthinkable to a stunned and helpless Igbo people?

We see how “foolishness” is even a generous and kind term for what WIC is doing. WIC is actually engaged in “aru”: in hypocrisy, in deceit and in sabotage. WIC is engaged in an idiotic act that pretends to, but will not change the result of a process whose outcome was never in doubt, even to the efulefu actors themselves. Such a pity!

Well, our masses, our people, will not be deceived. Our people can no longer be deceived by the same tricks and “wayo” which Nigeria has been playing on us all the time, having perfected the method of using our own organs and our own people such as Ohaneze and WIC and Diasporans, against us. The day in 1999 when MASSOB was formed, dawning into that day on which Biafra was re-declared by MASSOB—on that day—our Biafran people said, No! forever to Nigeria and its tricks, No! to its evil and its crimes, and No! to its murderous Nigerian policies, agents and agencies. Thanks to MASSOB, we, the people, have responded with a resounding “B-I-A-F-R-A”!

So, fellow Biafrans, you know what the practical meaning of this is: We shall boycott any and all elections held by Nigeria. We shall ignore any and all efforts made by any and all to promote or organize or conduct Nigerian elections in Biafraland, and elsewhere Biafrans reside. We will shake our collective head at WIC, at Ohaneze and at Diasporans, and look at them with the pity reserved for the efulefu. We will give them severe and fierce discouraging looks only reserved for those who elect to join a known enemy in hurting their own people.

We do not care what political Parties (and now that we have learnt of churches, those, too) are involved in Nigeria’s elections: we will not participate. Because we all know from experience, facts and history that every Party operating within Nigeria is tainted and infected by the same endemic leprous condition called Nigeria. So, do not even pay attention to anyone bringing up APGA or any other Party; nor to Churches trying to corrupt God’s Grace by applying Nigeria’s corrupt tactics to blackmail God’s children. they are all the same, and we have seen it all, we have seen them all. Boycott the elections we will.

Nor are we to be persuaded otherwise because of the personalities-candidates campaigning for Nigeria’s offices. It does not matter who they are, our answer is the same: we will not participate in Nigeria’s elections. Because, it is, once again, clear and evident: Nigeria corrupts every person (and everything) operating within Nigeria, and there are no exceptions that we know of. If any candidate claims he or she is going to change Nigeria, ask him or her how anyone who already resides in, and chooses to operate from inside, the pit of a pit-latrine, can change the latrine to make it habitable. It doesn’t happen: it won’t happen. We know. So, we boycott Nigeria: we boycott Nigeria’s elections, regardless of candidature.

Fellow Biafrans: in 2003, we appealed to you in the name of Biafra to demonstrate the power of Biafra by doing the impossible: unity-solidarity vote for APGA. You did. In 2006, we appealed to you to boycott the Nigerian census in the name of Biafra (although there were also other independent reasons): You did. Today, we appeal to you, in the name and Spirit of Biafra, to boycott any and all Nigeria’s elections. Thank you in advance, because we know: You will. While we show our sincere and deep-felt appreciation, we do not ever humor ourselves to think that our appeal to you really has any power: we know that the only true power is your own individual honest conviction in doing what is right, and acting according to the moral persuasion and moral authority within you. We count on that, because the discharge of moral duty is the essence of decent and honest living. That’s why we boycott Nigeria’s elections.

WIC and Ohaneze can instead redeem themselves when they join us in getting the release from Obasanjo’s Nigerian jails, of Ralph Uwazurike, the leader of MASSOB, Uchenna Madu and other MASSOB officials, and every single MASSOB member therefrom. Ditto, for Diaspora Igbo and Biafrans, and for those in the political class: it is expected of you to act and do the right thing. It is always a moral duty, never a crime, for a people to seek to control and manage their own destiny.

That is why Biafra is the answer for our people. We have to actualize Biafra. It is a terrible existential sin and unbearable shame to allow, give, or yield our destiny to our enemy (or to anyone else for that matter) to control. It is always Morally wrong that anyone would suggest such, or try to uphold such a condition wherein the People’s collective Fate resides in the hands of their sworn enemy. God forbids that! Our culture forbids that.

Biafra alive! Because it is God Who makes it so.

That’s the News Analysis for the week.   Thank you.
