This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts
For October 5, 2007
You have heard the news; now, the analysis…
Fellow Biafrans:
Lest we forget that we are “new beings” as Biafrans, lest we fail to totally break away both physically, mentally, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually from Nigeria, lest we forget that we cannot continue to act with Nigerian mentality in any and all things, we must now cite excerpts from the Biafra Charter in order to deal with and react properly to recent events in our land, Biafraland, today.
Before we do that, let us touch on the cowardly act of Nigeria’s court which imposed new conditions for bail for, and once again adjourned the case of, Ralph Uwazurike, the leader of MASSOB, Uchenna Madu, other MASSOB officials, and members of MASSOB languishing in Nigeria’s jails, unjustly imprisoned in the first place by Nigeria because our incarcerated brethren seek Self Determination for Biafra, Self determination being what our people want. Now that even the UN has endorsed the right of nations to seek and consummate Self Determination for themselves from their subtending States, what reason can Nigeria possibly still have for continuing this evil and unconscionable act against those already seeking Self Determination for their people? Let’s say Uwazurike produces his late mother’s Death Certificate, as the Nigerian court has demanded, what, then, for other MASSOB co-prisoners who are being held for the same “offense”: whose Death Certificate or what will they have to produce for Nigeria’s courts for their own bail? Nigeria can continue to show its true colors and project itself as both wicked and persecutory towards Biafrans; and project itself as really silly to the entire world, but it ought not to do so at the expense of our people. “Release our people unconditionally!” we continue to demand of Nigeria.
Nigeria is a lawless place; everyone knows it: Biafra will never be like that; Biafrans will not act like Nigerians, either. In the recent matter of some men attacking and forcefully disrobing our young women because the women were wearing trousers, let us refer you to what the Biafra Charter says in the “Declaration of Principles” in Section C.
“Principle 5: Each person possesses the fundamental right to information, knowledge and ideas; and to write, speak and otherwise express himself or herself freely; the Government shall make no law in principle or kind abridging these rights.”
Furthermore, in Section D, “Declaration of Nine Basic Laws” under “Identity”, we are informed that:
The identity of each individual is traceable through the mechanism and family of human species, the larger family or circle of the universe, to an ultimate Original Principle which may be personified or personalized in a manner that affords the most meaning to the individual. Therefore, the individual is seen as a direct expression of that Original Principle; the Charter shall not allow, respect or support any law or laws, which by their nature or application or implementation, diminish or militate against this attribute and identity of the individual.”
while being exhorted under “Responsibility of Citizenship,” in the same Section, thus:
The prime duty and responsibility of every citizen is to know, respect, protect, and to defend the fundamental rights, as declared above, of other citizen(s) and of himself or herself, all citizens being equal and treated equally, without exception. A huge part of this duty is to make all efforts to ensure that the government and governance are under the direct control of the people at all times, and not the other way around. It is the supreme duty of the citizenry to own and exercise the Sovereignty of the Nation and not cede such to the "State" or to the government.”
Fellow Biafrans: at last we have, in the Biafra Charter, a common frame of reference which reflects our highest ideals and the best practices of humane and enlightened humanity, as well as the qualities endowed on us by our Creator Himself. This makes for a lawful and law-abiding nation and human society. By this standard, four points are clear:
1) No government has the right to make laws infringing on the fundamental rights of Biafrans—men or women—to express themselves, in this instance, by their clothing style.
2) No Biafran should support such laws where, or should, they exist.
3) Such laws are illegal, anti-society, anti-human, and anti-Creator.
4) Every Biafra, as a responsibility of citizenship, has a clear-cut duty to defend the rights of those so aggrieved by the unlawful laws and actions of any government.
Just as important, it is utterly unthinkable for any true Biafran to participate in the dastardly acts such as undertaken by those uninformed and ignorant men who had the effrontery to attack and disrobe and thereby violate our women and violate their God-given rights, their human rights, and their civil rights. It is unthinkable that any true Biafran will fail to defend the right of the victimized were this to happen again.
Fellow Biafrans: this should never happen again. Check your Biafra Charter: regarding its content, there is no Moral conflict, there is no conflict with Conscience, there is no Legal conflict, there is no conflict with Humanity, and certainly no conflict with the Creator. Draw your conviction and validation therefrom. And act accordingly. This is what separates you from the Evil and lawless anti-people place called Nigeria. We are in Biafra now: we have the Biafra Charter, for which we are grateful.
(We are making efforts to get hard copies of the Biafra Charter in your hands; in the meantime, go here for the electronic version: http://www.biafraland.com/biafracharterHeader.htm )
Biafra alive! Because it is God Who makes it so.
That’s the News Analysis for the week. Thank you.
