This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts

For November 25th, 2006

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

Fellow Biafrans:

Newspapers announced to a stunned Nigerian readership that a pro-MASSOB pro-Biafran group active in the UK successfully disrupted a Nigerian propaganda show in London on November 20 2006. An equally stunned Nigerian government woke up to the facts that:

1)    Obasanjo and his armed agents can maim, kill, detain, and dispossess as many MASSOB members as can be pointed out to them, or as many as are suspected by them, but the agenda of MASSOB—the actualization of Biafra using non-violent means—is being pursued all over the world with unrelenting fervor and irrevocable dedication, with only the goal of the agenda as the single certain outcome.

2)    Nigerians can pretend that they do not know about the atrocities being committed by Obasanjo and the Nigerian armed State organizations against MASSOB and against Biafra today (much like the Germans then claimed that they were unaware of what Hitler and his Nazi regime were doing to the Jews during the WWII years), but through our efforts, the world knows what is going on, and no one in Nigeria will be believed should they later claim that they did not know.

3)    Nigerian government officials will have to explain, someday, somehow, the atrocities they committed against MASSOB and Biafrans—atrocities which are being recorded now and correctly attributed to them—and being exposed to the entire world. It’s no longer going to be “business as usual.” Very soon, foreign governments are going to have to restrict entry into their countries by Nigerian officials for these crimes.

The MASSOB-UK action is all the more significant because most of Nigeria’s support comes from the UK government which has a selfish interest to maintain what the colonial British cobbled together as Nigeria, in so doing, pretending that the ongoing suffering of the people victimized by that arrangement does not count. We are showing the citizens of UK what is going on in the sick structure, Nigeria, which their government insists must continue to exist in order to continue the torturing of Biafrans by Nigeria. We are also challenging the government of UK to demonstrate morality and redeem its 200 year-old direction herding the nations in this part of Africa into a waiting and certain abyss.

Another significance is the fact that our pro-MASSOB protest was led by a Briton (married to a Biafran woman). We now see that the Fire for Biafra burns also in the hearts of not just biological Biafrans, but all those with the Spirit of Biafra, anywhere and everywhere in the entire planet. We say, Bravo! to him and his colleagues. He continues in the tradition of many other citizens of Britain who during the Biafra War protested severely against their own government’s participation and instrumentality in the unconscionable, unjustifiable genocide against Biafrans between 1966 and 1970 by the British puppet, Nigeria.

Significantly, Biafrans of whatever persuasion who have thus far sat on the fence should remember this: if necessary, the Lord will raise stones to reclaim Biafra and breathe human life into such rocks. Yet, even before it comes to that, among all of God’s humanity, there are souls willing to stand up for what is right, willing to reject injustice, especially blatant injustice, as has been visited on Biafrans by Nigeria. From this pool, the Lord will find His servants and send those who are eager to volunteer to do God’s good work. Take a look at yourself in the mirror and decide who you are and who you want to be, and who you are with.

Imagine the significance of having a UK citizen confronting efulefu Nweke, the Igbo Minister of Information for Nigeria, where Nweke was busy telling lies in UK-land—in London—about how good Nigeria is? Of all people in the world, why would an Igbo be out there trying to whitewash the image of Nigeria? The words must stick to his throat. Which ethnic group has suffered more at the hands of Nigeria and its leaders than the Igbo? Yet, which ethnic group has done  more to build up Nigeria, not just with its own sweat but also, its own blood—literally—than the Igbo? And in spite of all that, the State of Nigeria’s anti-Igbo anti-Biafra policies today are even more brazen than the known arrogantly mean and racist Apartheid’s laws against the African owner-dwellers of South Africa. What could be more macabre than an Igbo such as Mr. Nweke, mounting the podium to try to sell the UK audience that Nigeria is doing well? In what? we ask. For whom? we ask. And, by whom is Nigeria doing well?

Seated in that audience were other Igbo efulefu: what was going on in their minds as Nweke was lying through his teeth about how good Nigeria is getting? If these Igbo no-gooders have forgotten that in Nigeria today, the so-called President is misusing all the instruments of State to hound his perceived enemies and opposition, including even the so-called Vice President of Nigeria; that there is no chance of credible elections come 2007 for Nigeria—if any at all; that the 2006 Nigerian Census cannot even be released un-tampered with or un-afraid of the consequences; that Nigeria cannot manage its own Roadways, its own Railways, its own Waterways, nor its own Airways; that there is no reliable potable Water system, no reliable Electric Power system, and no reliable fuel for even domestic cooking activities; that Sharia rules in Muslim Northern Nigeria in place of and superior to Nigeria’s constitution and laws; that Obasanjo is the most corrupt usurper of all the other usurpers of Nigeria’s throne while yet, he pretends to be an anti-corruption crusader;—if the efulefu Igbo there could forget all that—how in hell could they also forget that as Nweke spoke, all of Igboland-Biafraland is under armed occupation by Nigeria, and treated as such; that Igbo and Biafran Youth have no jobs, can’t go to school, can’t graduate from schools; and are constantly hounded by the Nigeria Police on Obasanjo’s specific orders, detained without reason and without charge in Police cells where they are killed by the police; or shot in the back as they flee from the police on our own streets—crimes the Nigeria Police got tired of pretending did not happen, and are now gleefully announcing their own Police’s criminal action against our people—in public and to the press, to boot? How could they forget? Just because ignoramus Nweke is paid to forget all that, they, too, also forget? Heavens help them.

Obasanjo will have to order the release of Ralph Uwazurike, the leader of MASSOB, Uchenna Madu, and all other MASSOB members being held in various Nigerian jails, because holding them in jail will not stop MASSOB. As we have seen, all that Obasanjo has accomplished in this regard is the more rapid spread of MASSOB all over the world.

As a matter of fact, it does not matter what Obasanjo does: the MASSOB agenda, Biafra actualization, using non-violent means, continues. But Obasanjo ought to consider his crimes and Human Rights violations committed against MASSOB and against other Biafrans. That record DOES matter—to him, and very much so, to us.

Biafra alive! Because it is God Who makes it so.

That’s the News Analysis for the week.   Thank you.
