This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts

For November 11th, 2006

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

Fellow Biafrans:

We have received information that at least thirty Biafrans—mostly Igbo youth—aged 16 to 21, died while under Police detention in the most recent Obasanjo / Nigeria-incited crisis in Anambra. They are MASSOB members. Even the Nigeria Police Anambra State “Special Anti-Robbery Squad” (SARS) spokesperson has admitted as much when he, as reported, told the Nigerian Tribune in that news report, “that he was aware that some suspected MASSOB members were arrested in Okpoko some months ago over unlawful activities…He confirmed that some of them had died in the custody on the ground of ill-health, but added that the sick among them were taken to hospitals…”

So we see that the killing of Biafrans, the killing of the Igbo, especially our Youth, by Nigeria’s armed institutions, including the Nigeria Police, has continued unabated. Nigeria’s atrocities and genocidal actions against our people are indeed ongoing. General Obasanjo, the leaders of Nigeria and Nigeria itself, are held responsible for these capital crimes against Humanity. Any Igbo or Biafran who has supported Nigeria, or who is still insisting that our people stay in one-Nigeria, has become a willing participant in these crimes against their own people—our people. They are adjudged culpable.

We mourn our Youth killed by vicious, malicious, bloodthirsty Nigeria Police—murdered  in the line of duty—in the line of Nature’s most supreme duty, the duty to live in Liberty and in Freedom, even if one has to die for it. Our dead comrades do not need us now, nor do they need anything we can say. But, we need their courage and we need their bravery and their strength—all of it. We need their undying commitment and dedication, and their one-mindedness when it comes to our Freedom and Liberty. And, such, they left behind for us, knowing that we will accept and use this their gift, knowing that we won’t disappoint them, that we will make them proud, by our going on to accomplish the goal for which they died, Biafra actualization. So, we put aside well-deserved eulogies, and focus on learning the lesson of the gift which they left for us: this is for us, not for them, and that’s how they intended it.

So, fellow Biafrans: gain the lesson and accept the challenge and gift of resolve and strength from our killed comrades. We may yet die from this struggle or die of this struggle; that is literal reality: so we choose, because to die in the act of reclaiming one’s Freedom and Liberty is to live—to live in the way which the enslaved will never know.  We shall have Biafra: we will have Biafra.

For those who are still not sure about it, it should be clear that Freedom and Liberty for Biafra and Biafrans is not just only to our own benefit. This entire region (the locality and the so-called Sub-Saharan Africa), all of Africa, and the whole World—all stand to benefit from Biafra actualization. Biafra is the only structure which can guarantee the stability of the area, assuring that resource ownership is properly recognized and ownership rights restored to the rightful owners, thereby removing the most powerful engine of sociopolitical instability in the region and thus curing world-wide Energy Markets-instability. Biafra as a Nation subtends the highest concentration of Professionals, Intellectuals and Artisans in a culture of unbeatable Work Ethics, of diligence, productivity, excellence and entrepreneurship. Biafra thus will be poised to become the center of gravity of Africa’s Renaissance and a center of gravity of enabling Stability.

Even whatever new structure is left of Nigeria after we actualize Biafra will benefit from the fact of Biafra actualization. For one, the aftermath of Biafra actualization is the liberations of the Yoruba Nation of Oodua, the Arewa Muslim Nation, and other Nations, allowing them to function each in a new capacity, giving each a fresh start, a new focus and novel opportunities for healthier, equitable relationships—associations of their own choosing—among themselves and with the rest of the world; and most important, giving them a certain break from the dysfunction that was Nigeria.

We cite the relatively recent break-up of another force-maintained union, Yugoslavia: such has only resulted in a more stable region, contrary to opponents’ fears and predictions; and resulted in a better / progressive opportunity for liberated sovereignties. We also point out the breakup of Soviet Union which it (breakup) was feared was going to destabilize the world more than the original Cold War and threatened WWIII that the Union had spawned. Such fears and predictions never materialized; instead, the world is breathing free of the Cold War and free of the then imminent Nuclear WWIII. Yes, the former countries of the Soviet Union, now Independent and free, are today for the most part contributing to the stability of the region, and of the World, and their focus has shifted from destroying Europe and the West and Capitalism, to actually working out more democratic and people-driven economies for the benefit of their own people and to the benefit of the world. This is what we see happening, what we envision, when Biafra is actualized—when Nigeria breaks up.

Thus, our MASSOB Youth—our thirty Youth—who, in this recent episode, made the ultimate sacrifice for their Liberty and Freedom, at the same time made a down-payment with their lives on our behalf, on behalf of Africa, and on behalf of the entire world. As do / did all those who have lost life, limb or livelihood in the struggle for Biafra actualization. And even as we speak, Ralph Uwazurike, the leader of MASSOB (Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, a non-violent organization), Uchenna Madu, the Information Director of MASSOB, other leaders of MASSOB, and other members of MASSOB who are pursuing the same agenda of Biafra actualization, are being held in various Nigerian jails on General Obasanjo’s orders. Their fate at the hands of their Nigerian jailers could well end up the same way as the other thirty’s; even as their unconscionable jailing in the meantime produces unimaginable inhumane results. We ask for their immediate unconditional release. We call on all men and women of conscience all over the Globe and all world-institutions to prevail on Obasanjo to have these men released immediately. These men’s work will be completed, will be done: such is in the interest of the world, too.

Biafra alive! Because it is God Who makes it so.

That’s the News Analysis for the week.   Thank you.
