This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts
For October 21st, 2006
You have heard the news; now, the analysis…
Fellow Biafrans:
We focus on events happening around us once again, this week, and we will use two such events to continue to stress the point that: Nigeria corrupts; and corrupts everyone and everything, yet, the Igbo and other Biafrans in the political class fail to see that. We will continue to point out the danger in anyone believing in Nigeria or in Nigeria’s political system and process; if the political class and those foolishly aspiring into it will not heed our warning and if they refuse to see the facts, then, on our part, we must refuse to be used as puns and fodder in the exercise of such foolishness. It is actually an act of suicide, but, apparently, the political class and aspirants are willing to do it—for the money, because Politics in Nigeria has become the second, if not the first and best, high money-making enterprise in Nigeria. While they thusly commit suicide, they also throw away the lives of common people—people whose lives depend on what the crooked, amoral and immoral politicians are cooking up.
We start with the case of Peter Obi. Fellow Biafrans: remember how Obi came to power? Well, let us remind you, in case you have forgotten. Back in (circa) 2002 when APGA was hurriedly formed and registered for the 2003 Nigeria elections, no one gave it much of a chance because it was a predominantly Igbo political party, with a late start, and no money, with all “seriously-minded” Igbo politicians already in PDP which was sure to win by hook and by crook. We stepped in and appealed to you to do the impossible: to bring home to all of Biafraland victory at the polls for the relegated and discarded underdog, APGA. We asked you to do it in the name, not of APGA, but of Biafra—to demonstrate the power of a people united in purpose and action, that purpose being the show of solidarity for Biafra, and the action, a unity-vote en masse for APGA—BUT ONLY in the name, and for the sake, of Biafra. We admitted up front to you that APGA would fail at governance, for the mere reason that APGA is a Nigerian-minded party registered in Nigeria and operating in Nigeria. We also assured you that the elections would be rigged, anyway, but that the demonstration of the power of Biafra by our unity-solidarity vote was our only focus and our expected victory—not governance in and of Nigeria. Well, you did listen to us, and in the name of Biafra, cast the winning votes for APGA in all of Biafraland—and, what a stunner! this was a huge victory for Biafra! As predicted, PDP rigged out APGA everywhere in Biafraland, thus setting the stage for a successful challenge by the APGA gubernatorial candidate in Anambra, Mr. Peter Obi.
Even before Peter Obi, already PDP and Ngige in Anambra were having serious problems with lethal consequences to our people. Soon after Peter Obi took over, problems returned to Anambra—proving our point that Nigeria is the real trouble / problem for our people: Nigeria will corrupt us and bring out the worst in us. Soon, Peter Obi was to begin to run to Obasanjo to beg him and plead for Obi’s governorship—yes, the same Obasanjo who has sworn to destroy Anambra as a symbolism for the destruction of Igbo / Biafra. Obasanjo had become Obi’s godfather and confidant, and Obi, in turn, Obasanjo’s god-son. Soon, Obi was doing Obasanjo’s bidding by Obi ordering the shooting of Obi’s own people as a way to appease his master, Obasanjo, and as a way to contain a crisis purposely engineered and fuelled by Obasanjo-PDP-Uba’s NARTO organization as a cover and justification. Rather than disband NARTO, Peter Obi was asked to eliminate and annihilate MASSOB, and Peter Obi did just that, using the Anambra Command of the Nigeria Police and the Nigerian military.
As soon as the Nigeria Police declared that MASSOB had been eliminated from Anambra, and their mission had been accomplished, and right after Obi rewarded them for that, Obasanjo, in characteristic fashion, publicly humiliated Peter Obi, right there in Anambra, ridiculed him and dumped him, while at the same time inciting Peter Obi’s impeachment by the Obasanjo-PDP-dominated Anambra State House of Reps, on bogus charges, except for the one true charge of issuing the shoot-at-sight order which resulted in the killing of so many of our people, especially innocent and unarmed MASSOB, murder which is still ongoing.
We predicted all along that Obi will fail because Nigeria would corrupt him: he has, woefully, and now, with the blood of our people on his hands, to boot.
So, what is Peter Obi doing now? He has finally “discovered” his own people when he had ignored them earlier in favor of Obasanjo; the same people--his own people—whom he wanted shot at sight by the Nigeria Police under the advise of Obasanjo. Peter Obi is now appealing to our people. Of course, it is our people who will now save him, just like our people saved Ngige from his fellow thieves and crooks of the Obasanjo-led PDP months ago. Our people will save Peter Obi from Obasanjo and Obasanjo’s hatchet men; just to prove to Obasanjo that we may be asleep, but there is only so far he can go with humiliating us before we are aroused. Will Peter Obi learn his lesson? We doubt it. Nigeria has sucked him in, destroyed him, and spat him out, as damaged goods, even now that our people will come to his rescue. We warned everyone about what Nigeria does to people.
The second case is that of Orji Uzor Kalu who publicly declared to our people that party-loyalty to PDP is all that he cares about, even when it is obvious that PDP is cheating and hurting and killing our people—the people Kalu is supposed to be representing. In keeping with that, Kalu once referred to Obasanjo, the head and personal owner of PDP, as his “father” and then on another occasion, his “boss.” Today, Kalu tells us publicly that Obasanjo buys and sends gifts to his (Kalu’s) mother. Also, Kalu made it clear that he felt that the Igbo should show contrition and apologize to the North for the Northerners engaging in genocide against our people—his own people. Earlier, when ferocious actions by the Muslim North caused bloody crises in or for Igboland-Biafraland, Kalu would be found basking in his home(s) in the North, among his “friends,” as he puts it. Later, Kalu would invite Northern leaders like Buhari and Babangida to come and insult our people on our own land.
Well, these past weeks, Obasanjo and PDP, using the EFCC, have started “peppering” Kalu, his family and his relatives. Where are his Northern “friends”? Nowhere! Where is the PDP party—the party-family to which he swore absolute loyalty, in blood, as it were, to help him out now? ‘Turned against him! Who is coming to Kalu’s aid? Only our people: the same people whose welfare did not matter to Kalu because he is only interested in Party supremacy. It is the same people whom Kalu practically abandoned in favor of the Northern tormentors—in favor of those who persecute the same people, his own people. Our people will save Kalu, just to show Obasanjo that he has crossed the line here once again. Will Kalu learn from this? We doubt it.
Fellow Biafrans: you see how they are sucked in, corrupted and then, spat out—spent, by Nigeria, who embrace Nigeria? See how they, instead of identifying with our people, first run to Obasanjo, to PDP, to the Caliphates, and to Nigeria and beg to be identified with them; yet, that system which they run to and cling to, not only fails them, but uses them up; then, turns on them? See how, when they are going to receive the final crushing blow from Nigeria, they suddenly “discover” that they are Igbo / Biafran, while our people step in to rescue them? Time after time it happens; over and over again. And yet, they will learn nothing?
If they won’t, we have already learnt our lesson a very long time ago—back in 1999. That’s why we are committed to actualizing our own country, Biafra. And, if 2007 should ever come to Nigeria, we would never again participate in Nigeria’s elections. We are Biafrans. We mind only Biafra.
Seek ye Biafra until we get Biafra: that’s the only solution; that’s why we are dedicated to Biafra actualization.
In your Prayers, ask for the release of Ralph Uwazurike, leader of MASSOB; Uchenna Madu, and other MASSOB members, from Obasanjo’s jails.
Biafra alive! Because it is God Who makes it so.
That’s the News Analysis for the week. Thank you.
