Fellow Biafrans:

Don’t expect us to spend much time on Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s technical sack by Obasanjo to which she finally reacted by resigning. We warned her when she took the job and later, when corrupt Obasanjo’s cronies started harassing her and threatening her life. She has only proved what we have been saying regarding the Igbo serving in Nigeria’s governments, especially in Obasanjo’s corrupt and anti-Igbo anti-Biafran regime. First, Obasanjo and Nigeria will use and abuse them, take credit for achievements benefiting Nigeria from their work, and then, turn around and spit them out. Second, such Igbo never do anything to benefit the Igbo or benefit Igboland; instead, they actually prevent such from accruing to the Igbo. Third, Nigeria corrupts such Igbo or brings out the worst in them eventually. Iweala exemplifies all three points.

And, don’t expect us to dwell on Ohaneze / Achuzie’s recent pronouncement threatening Biafra secession should the Igbo not get the Nigerian Presidency come 2007. Remember, you would be talking about Achuzie, the newest member of the Igbo Efulefu class, a hypocrite, and a confused old man—a once Biafran hero now turned one-Nigerian; and his Efulefu organization, Ohaneze, which is in fact a hijacked organ. But why any sane person would hijack corrupt and effete Ohaneze is beyond imagination: one then has to conclude that Ohaneze, a useless vehicle as presently constituted, is for the not-so-sane. Most important, no person who is serious about Biafra is looking for an Igbo Nigerian presidency, for, we have already decided that the Nigerian elections—assuming that they occur—are not for us Biafrans. As our people say, “what relationship can there be between the barber and the bald vulture?” We do not care who is the president of Nigeria, when: we pursue Biafra actualization until we get it, and nothing else.

What we want to bring to you today is Chioma’s “My Freedom Day” email to the Biafra Actualization Forum (BAF). For those who may have forgotten, allow us to remind you of who are Heroine, Chioma, is. She was 16—only sixteen—when, on September 11, 2004, she was arrested with 52 others—Igbo-Biafrans (by now known as MASSOB-53)—by a motorized contingent of the Nigerian Police. Her / their offense? Chioma and her colleagues were in a public school stadium at Abule Ado Technical School in Ojo, Lagos, for a soccer tournament whose prize was named after Uwazurike, the MASSOB leader. The Nigerian Police manhandled, harassed and imprisoned-detained them before finally charging them in court with Treason and Conspiracy and “intimidating President Obasanjo.” The Police even tried to plant weapons on the victims, claiming that they recovered dangerous weapons (their example: machetes) from these soccer fans. And no less an official than the Attorney General of Nigeria and Minster of Justice himself went public to press these ludicrous charges against innocent Biafrans and to try to defend the ridiculous charges.

Here, without much further ado, it is, (with typographical corrections):

“My fellow Biafrans,

Today being August 1st, i marked my freedom day, some 365 days ago i made my bail from detention in Nigeria prison, where i spent about 330 days behind bars, today i sat down to recount my ordeal in the hand of the wicked men of Nigeria police who arrested and maltreated me along side with 52 other innocent Biafran, at Abule Ado football field where we attended the Uwazurike freedom cup final march.

Today i remember, the pains , agony and frustrations throughout my days in prison, and also how i finally made my bail, courtesy of good Biafran in BAF.

While the bail condition was so high that my parents could not afford my bail, i thought that all hope was lost, not until i got the news that some Biafran of BAF Members are making move to assist us for our freedom, eventually we got bail , then i and some other made it .

As i remember how i made it out from prison on August 1st 2005, i wish i call for celebration, but it’s not yet time now for the celebration until Biafra is free. That is the reason why i am calling on all Biafrans to support our struggle for Biafra freedom. freedom is good, freedom sweet, nothing is like freedom, when you are free, you can do all you wish to do, you can eat what you like to eat and you can go wherever you want to go or have whatever you want.

I am saying this because i have seen and tested the ugliness of being a slave in prison, and also the goodness of being free. And i know that if Biafra is free today, then we can do, become and have all what we want in life.

I am happy today because three days ago i graduated from high school, which i would have graduated last year if not for the detention.

I am writing a book now on my passion, torture and my ordeals in detention for Biafra, soon it will be out, my full experience will be there, i have reserve some comments now because the case is still on, but in that book i will open up. i wish you will get it, it will be my / our little way to support Biafra freedom .

Though, surprisingly, few of my colleagues are still behind bars, defying all double-efforts done so far to get them bail out, a lot of money has been spent for their bail but yet, they are not yet out, instead the court keep refusing the same bail conditions used on others.

I want to thank you all in BAF, particularly those of you that make my freedom possible, i want to assure you that i will continue to do my best for Biafra until our freedom come, i also want to tell you that i am praying for you all, for your contributions in any form toward my freedom, your protest write-ups, the personal encouraging messages you sent to me, the supports and gifts you sent to me, i thanks you all for that and I will NEVER FORGET BAF, even though i never know any of you in person, i hope that one day, soonest, we all we see face to face in Biafra land, to celebrate our FREEDOM.

Fellow Biafrans, let us not forget to pray for our beloved leader, our father, Chief Ralph Uwazurike, he is our true Igbo leader, who never mind going to prison just because of our freedom, let us pray for his life, because Nigeria Government are wicked. he will live to see Biafra freedom. let us also pray for all other people in detention in Nigeria prison, that God will protect and encourage them with their families.

Let pray that God will grant us Freedom soonest, so that we will become what HE want us to be .
