This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts

For July 8th, 2006

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

Fellow Biafrans:

We have witnessed in this day Nigerian armed forces kill and rape our people in our own homeland, Igboland – Biafraland; loot and destroy our property and our cities. Like previous such sordid events in 1966, 1967-70; 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, early 2006, this is genocide, once again. While we continue to alert the world, it is surprising that our own people of the intellectual, elite, Diaspora and political class have kept very quiet. Only recently have just a couple of them  made any kind of direct statements regarding this ongoing genocide against their own people, our own people; even then, these were very unconvincing, non-committal lukewarm statements which failed to capture the moral gravity of the situation or the grave implications. It is obvious what this class is doing (or not doing): little wonder why they will never represent our people’s interest and we will never trust them or follow their lead. They have failed the credibility test and the Moral test. We will stick with MASSOB, MASSOB’s agenda for Biafra actualization, and MASSOB leadership at home; along with Biafra Foundation (BF) outside of our shores. Fellow Biafrans: if you have relatives in this class, tell them that you want Biafra and support MASSOB; and ask them to do the same.

Let us not forget the brutality of this ongoing process of genocide against our people as it targets especially MASSOB, MASSOB membership and MASSOB leadership. From all the reports taken together, an objective party can verify that MASSOB  was not responsible for the current Onicha crisis, although the government of Nigeria is determined to falsely pin the blame for it on MASSOB. While the Nigeria Press understands and publishes evidence pointing elsewhere, and specifically exonerating MASSOB, the same Press will continue to carry the government’s deliberate lie against MASSOB as if that was fact, despite the obvious and documented contradiction. Meanwhile, the Nigerian armed Agencies and Forces continue to undertake a literal “search-and-destroy” operation against unarmed and innocent MASSOB, and not having had enough, are glad to use that as an excuse for carrying out devastating collateral damage directed against the rest of our people. This murderous crime against humanity is continuing, even as we speak.

Through it all, MASSOB has stood tall, and stood by its agenda of Biafra actualization and its motto of non-violence, along with non-cooperation with Nigeria’s anti-Biafran policies, and non-exodus. MASSOB has proved what it believes: that no Force and no Power on Earth can destroy Moral Right or stop Self Determination drive by a determined group on behalf of its people. Therefore, we ask you, our people, to continue to support MASSOB in every way that you can. Every one has a part to play and a contribution to make in this. The greatest aspect of this is the sheer Will, Determination and Resolution that Self determination is your right and unshakeable, non-negotiable choice. Show your support  by continuing to demand with seriousness and with one voice the unconditional and immediate release of Ralph Uwazurike, the leader of MASSOB; Uchenna Madu, the Information Director of MASSOB, other MASSOB leaders and members, and all other Biafrans who are languishing in Nigerian jails on the orders of Obasanjo and his government, especially the most recent crop of Biafrans and MASSOB members who were cruelly, unjustly and indiscriminately drag-netted and thrown in jail en masse by the Nigerian forces in Onicha and elsewhere in Anambra.

Fellow Biafrans: this is why we must follow MASSOB’s lead in boycotting the planned Nigeria elections of 2007, assuming that elections will actually happen in Nigeria. First of all, like MASSOB, we all now know that there is nothing in Nigeria for us except pain and death; and total corruption. Along with MASSOB, we had already decided for, and chosen, Biafra, while rejecting Nigeria. There is no point in participating in Nigeria’s elections: we are Biafrans, and we need to concentrate on actualizing Biafra and nation-building of Biafra.

Second, we know that the 2007 has already been rigged—not “will be rigged”: it has already been rigged. So, anyone counting on a clean, fair, free and honest 2007 elections in 2007 in Nigeria has already been deceived. Elections in Nigeria are not rigged on election day: the rigging starts with actions one to three years before then. Before the 2003 rigged elections, Anenih announced to Nigerians that there would be no vacancy in Aso Rock come 2003, and he said it in 2000, almost 3 years before the actual elections. He funded the criminal action with money over-allocated to his Ministry (of Works). Today, Anenih is still plotting the continued hold-on to power by PDP come 2007, by hook or by crook, the usual means being by rigging. Now joined by Ali, the factional criminal chairman of PDP, they are working in cahoots with Obasanjo to fund the scheme—because, as usual, it requires huge sums of money—using public funds. To make stealing of funds from the Nigerian coffers possible, Obasanjo has re-arranged his regime’s economic and finance team, moving away Okonjo-Iweala, a potential block. It was the duo of Anenih and Ali who dug up the reported alleged fact that Iweala’s close relative is benefiting from her position as the Finance Minister, for which Obasanjo practically demoted / sacked Iweala. Never mind that Obasanjo’s relatives, Anenih’s relatives, and Ali’s wife and son have all directly benefited from the fact of the respective offices of these double-faced, double-standard hypocrites, and none has yet had to face sanctions or charges. Recall that Obasanjo’s minion, Chris Uba, who confessed to rigging Anambra elections  in 2003, rather than being tried and serving jail term and being banned from political activity for life for this crime, as would have been the case in most civilized countries, was rewarded with the current Anambra State PDP chairmanship, and he has already practically stated that PDP has won Anambra in the not-yet-held Anambra elections of 2007. He is funneling public funds to NARTO, which he and  Obasanjo’s government used to effect their rigging of the 2003 elections; and we have seen the menacing hand and power of NARTO in these past few weeks. Another point: none of the Igbo PDP governors have left PDP yet (including Orji Uzor Kalu), which they should have by now: actually, they know that PDP has successfully rigged 2007 elections already; they are waiting to walk into plum PDP appointments come 2007.  So, those waiting for 2007 to react to a rigged election have already waited too long: the rigging has been completed right now, and there is nothing they are doing about it now, or can do about it now; nor in 2007 for that matter. Especially when they participate in the elections in the first place, should that happen.

That brings up the third point. Any participation in any election is a validation of that election to start with, by the participant, no matter the conduct of the election. If you determine that an election is going to be rigged or has been rigged already before hand, based on deductions from similar previous patterns, the best thing to do is to register your protest and challenge by NOT participating at all when the election comes around, and announcing such boycott well ahead of time.  Once you participate, protesting the rigging after the election is meaningless and ineffective: you will only be called a “sore loser,”  and that sticks fast. Then, you have really lost double and totally.

For all these reasons, we are staying out of any elections in Nigeria. The principal reason is that we are Biafrans.

Biafra alive! Because it is God Who makes it so.

That’s the News Analysis for the week.   Thank you.
