This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts

For June 3rd, 2006

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

Fellow Biafrans:

It would seem that Nigeria does not study history and does not learn from history, hence, Nigeria is doomed, just as we have always known. Nigeria is still holding the leaders of MASSOB (Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra), a non-violent organization leading the exercise of the Self Determination agenda for our people; and also, other members of MASSOB, along with some Biafrans captured at random, in jail. Thusly, Ralph Uwazurike, the Leader of MASSOB, is still in jail, along with MASSOB functionaries such as Uchenna Madu, the Information Director of MASSOB. History is on our side: our brothers and sisters held in Nigeria’s jails will be exonerated, because the choice of freedom and the pursuit thereof for a nation whose people are under constant withering persecution and oppression—that choice and the pursuit thereof—is ALWAYS the correct choice and always the RIGHT pursuit. It is a moral choice and a moral duty which every human being understands; in so far as God Himself is the Author of Freedom and Liberty for His creation, it also becomes a Divine Duty and Divine Choice which invokes Divine Imperative. Nigeria, which parades itself as a “religious country,” ought to understand this, too, but for it being steeped in its malignant hypocrisy. General Obasanjo, on whose orders these our brothers and sisters were placed in jail, should answer true to his self-proclaimed and much vaunted “born again Christian” status, and release all our brethren from jail. For once, General Obasanjo can live true to his own proclamations and his self-presentation as being a God-fearing and God-respecting man. If you respect God or fear God, you do not order God’s children to jail because God’s children are doing what comes natural as a consequence of their God-given attribute—freedom and liberty and its defense, whenever either is jeopardized, as has happened to us in Nigeria. Release our people, Obasanjo: “Let my people go!”

And still on the subject of history, who could imagine that in the year 2006, a civilized government or any government worth its salt, would be using helicopter gunships and armored personnel carriers, in a joint armed forces persecutory exercise, to forcefully round up unarmed and innocent civilians in cities and then, parade them in public as criminals, before sending them to jail? That is precisely what happened in Nigeria this week. Since General Obasanjo is the overall commander of all the armed forces in Nigeria, including the Police, he bears the responsibility of this shameful exercise conducted in Biafran cities, and about which the participating Police bragged openly. The indiscriminate rounding up of unarmed Biafrans going about their normal business in Biafran cities with excessive and lethal force by Nigerian agents and personnel is gratuitous, wicked, selective, unprovoked, unconscionable and criminal. We point this out to the world at large; everyone knows that Nigeria is incapable of manufacturing attack-helicopters, therefore, there is a country or countries out there which supplied Nigeria with these helicopters. If they were given as military equipment, these countries should be out there condemning Nigeria for conducting such a “military exercise” on unarmed and peaceful residents—non-combatants, definitely. Assuming that the equipment was provided to Nigeria for Police work, such a stipulation has been broken, for it is clear that the equipment was obviously and flagrantly misused in unnecessary harassment and mayhem against unarmed and peaceful residents of urban areas who have committed no crime. The world expects a strident protest directed against Nigeria from such countries.

For our people, we hope and trust that this will make you more determined to press on our agenda to leave Nigeria and actualize our own country of Biafra as soon as we can get there. Nigeria is killing us and humiliating us with impunity, laughing, laughing at us and mocking us along the way, and taunting us—just because we are Igbo or Biafran. This is in fact a definite Nigerian policy against the Igbo and Biafrans, the anti-Igbo anti-Biafran policy and agenda of Nigeria which we constantly point out. Let this policy and its exercise incite you to defy Nigeria to the end, until Nigeria is no more; let it enrage you to the point of impatience and resoluteness, to ensure that we have Biafra so that never again! will Nigeria do this to our people. Obasanjo and Nigeria are doing this to us today, thinking that we cannot do anything in response: prove them all wrong:—actualize Biafra! That we must do now. We will show them that Biafra is here to stay, and that all their taunting of the Igbo and taunting of Biafra was, and is, in vain.

Start engaging those running around calling themselves our “leaders”—the political class and the elite: press home the point that we are going to have Biafra one of these days, and really soon. Ask them to switch to Biafra now. Assure them that we the people of Biafra will never again provide for them a human or social or political  platform from which to conduct their Nigerian political business: count us OUT of any elections in Nigeria. Count us out of Nigeria, period. God has prepared Biafra for us; God created us Biafrans. That’s where belong. That’s where we go. That’s where we are.

Biafra alive! because God makes it so.

That’s the News Analysis for the week.   Thank you.
