This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts

For April 29th, 2006

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

Fellow Biafrans:

There is an un-reproduced account of General Obasanjo denying any hand in, and any plans of, an unconstitutional Third Term. We are not interested in Nigeria politics, being that our focus is Biafra actualization and our own Biafra Nation-building. We only mention this report because in it, Obasanjo is quoted as planning on returning to his Ota Farm after May 29 2007 when his term will end. We seize this opportunity to let Obasanjo know that his chances of returning to Ota farm for any length of time after his dictator’s reign in Nigeria are very slim; it is more likely that the fate which Taylor faces today is what awaits Obasanjo on May 30 2007.  This is because of atrocities committed by the General against the people of Biafra, and especially against MASSOB members during his two recent terms in office, but especially this current one. On Obasanjo’s orders, many MASSOB members have been illegally arrested, detained, imprisoned, tortured, held incommunicado, ambushed and killed by the different armed security outfits of Nigeria, including the Nigeria police, the military police, the SSS, the mobile police, the secret police, and by the different branches of the military. Therefore, Obasanjo will be held responsible for the violation of the human rights of our brethren of the MASSOB. We urge Obasanjo to release them now. We are talking about Ralph Uwazurike, the leader of MASSOB; Uchenna Madu, the Information Director of MASSOB; Uche Okwukwu, an attorney for MASSOB; as well as other MASSOB leaders; and all other members of MASSOB being held in Nigerian jails. Should anything further happen to these our brethren, that just counts and adds to the number of charges we shall bring against Obasanjo.

We now also have disheartening and specific detailed reports of the sort which we are warning General Obasanjo about. Our brothers and members of MASSOB, Jude Asoanya, Angel Nwigbo, Onuegbe Nduka, Richard Eze, and Mebisie Ndubuisi, who were seized by the efulefu Igbo  vigilante group and handed over to the State CID in Awka several weeks ago, have not been accounted for by the police and have not been arraigned in court anywhere. We do not know their fate, and have not located them in any police prisons; hence, they are feared dead at the hands of the Nigeria police.

We also know that MASSOB members who were shot and wounded by the Nigeria police in Onitsha during the March 2006 census boycott were sent to the hospital to receive treatment. They were later arrested by the police while still in the hospital and subsequently prevented from receiving, and denied, further medical treatment. Not only have they been allowed to suffer thus of their police-inflicted gunshot wounds and left to die, the police are ready and eager to brand them with the false tag of “armed robbers” in order to justify killing them off. The police have also refused to arraign these men in court so that friends, family and relatives could actually see their faces or catch a glimpse of them, while at the same time, refusing them visits. Here are their names: Chukwudi Okpara, Chukwu Ude, Chukwudi Odo, Toochukwu Nwankwo, Ifeanyi Muoka, Sunday Onah and Kingsley. Other unnamed members of this set are believed to have already died at the hands of the police. The Onitsha Area Commander of the Nigeria Police, Mr. Anyagafu, is responsible for the arrest of these our brethren. We are holding Mr. Anyagafu accountable for the injury, mistreatment, denial of medical care, suffering and or death of these our brothers. We also hold General Obasanjo, from whom the Nigeria Police receives direct command, responsible.

The few who make it out of police detention alive suffer the effects of their horrid prison experience long afterwards. Such is the case of Onyekachi Ogbu and Solomon Edes who were arrested and imprisoned by the Nigeria police during the December 5th and 6th 2005 sit-in protest. They now have problems with their vision.

Fellow Biafrans: there is not a chance at all that these crimes against humanity committed against our MASSOBians will be swept under the carpet. Never! With good documentation and specific details such as this, with the names and even phone numbers of the perpetrators, we are amassing unassailable evidence. Evidence against Obasanjo. Evidence against his Police officers, and when we can get it, against the rank-and-file criminal police personnel. Evidence against the SSS. Therefore, we recommend that you keep detailed, factual notes while recording these crimes, and then, send us a copy.

To our victimized brethren, when we call you by name, you know that we have not forgotten, and will never forget you. You are in our hearts and in our prayers and we commend you to our God. To our victimized brothers and sisters who have not heard their names in our broadcasts, we really do love and care for you all the more, at least to make up for the fact that you may feel forgotten or neglected. Rest assured that you are not forgotten; we carry you in our heart at all times, too. Because for each name we read aloud, we are immediately reminded of the scores whose names have not come up to us to be announced. How could we forget? We hold you up to God.

In case the so-called vigilante group who molested and aided in the capture of our MASSOB brethren do not realize that, they are now the enemies of our people. They must disband, confess their iniquity to our people and repent before Biafra catches up with them and metes out swift legal justice in a properly constituted court of law.  We urge all our people at home to make a note of the members of that efulefu vigilante group for our records. And speaking of guilty efulefu, who will forget crusty and crafty greedy turncoat, Joe Achuzie, along with insatiable Iwuanyanwu, and the spineless Professor Joe Irukwu—the foolish trio—who used their efulefu organization, Ohaneze, to publicly declare that they opposed the release of MASSOB leadership and members from Nigerian jails on the grounds that MASSOB was opposed to or would hurt their plan for Igbo presidency of Nigeria for 2007 elections? Today, is it not the same Achuzie, Iwuanyanwu, Irukwu and their Ohaneze who have killed the Igbo presidency project and who have no shame in announcing publicly that they are now switching their support to Obasanjo’s unconstitutional third term bid? Have they apologized to our people, or to MASSOB? No. They should and must count themselves on the side of our enemies—heartless enemies who unjustly arrest and detain, torture and imprison, kill and maim our MASSOBians and our people, out of malice, ethnic prejudice, and wicked intent to torment. Fellow Biafrans: these men and their organization must be treated as lepers:—isolated, shunned, ostracized, given the cold shoulder and silent treatment, and actively ignored. We must treat them like they do not exist in this world, until a court of law will try them for aiding and abetting our enemies and constituting themselves into enemies and tormentors of Biafra.

We now see what happens to Igbo who do not want to embrace and focus on Biafra-Biafra actualization. Such end up making a fool of themselves, acting like confused, confounded and mad persons. Their organizations face the same fate.

Biafra alive! because God makes it so.

That’s the News Analysis for the week.   Thank you.
