This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts

For April 15th, 2006

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

Fellow Biafrans:

The Nigerian courts have continued to postpone Bail Application Decision Appeal arraignments in the cases of our beloved MASSOB brethren who have spent many months already in SSS prisons and Nigerian jails, on the fake, unsustainable and unjustifiable charge of Treason. We continue our strong call for the release of these our brethren: Ralph Uwazurike, the Leader of MASSOB; Uchenna Madu, the Information Director of MASSOB; Uche Okwukwu, an attorney for MASSOB; all other MASSOB leaders; and all other members of MASSOB; from Nigerian jails.  We urge General Obasanjo to release these men, because, if the General is honest to himself, he should know that these are not the men effecting the downfall of Nigeria.  General Obasanjo ought to face the facts which are evident and obvious to all, both within Nigeria and Biafraland, and outside thereof: Nigeria is being destroyed today, not by MASSOB, but by the General himself and his style of politics and governance of Nigeria. Every person residing in Nigeria today will admit and acknowledge this. It adds further injustice for General Obasanjo to use MASSOB as the scapegoat for the stark failings and ongoing fall of Nigeria. As such, we must warn General Obasanjo that he will be held accountable in the International Court of Justice for this brazen injustice; and that no manner of “immunity,” contrived or not, will afford him any protection at all. General Obasanjo must do the correct thing now: he must act on the side of moral justice by releasing our brethren.

We see how the SSS head, Director-General Colonel Kayode Are, is now bragging publicly how it took the SSS two days to plan and kidnap Ralph Uwazurike and the other MASSOB members, leading to their current imprisonment. It is only in Nigeria that a notoriously oppressive and extremely wicked partisan outfit such as the SSS, will brag publicly that it defied earlier specific Nigerian court injunctions to the contrary, to proceed to kidnap and arrest Uwazurike. Especially considering that the SSS agents had to disguise themselves, armed, to boot, as members of the apolitical, non-militarized Youth Corp whose main goal is building trust among different ethnicities using community service; thereby desecrating and negating the primary purpose of the Youth Corp. Especially considering that Uwazurike and the MASSOB members were not even in hiding, and were unarmed, as stipulated by MASSOB policy and philosophy. Especially considering that our MASSOB brethren, living the philosophy and practice of non-violence, were undefended. Now, following that kidnapping, the SSS sent in more agents, and in cahoots with the Nigeria Police, destroyed the MASSOB complex in Okwe, along with property and other infrastructure and amenities. Many MASSOB members were killed by the SSS and Nigeria Police in these series of raids and operations. It is this type of mindless, senseless, unconscionable bloody crime against humanity that Colonel Kayode Are of the Nigeria SSS is bragging about today. Well, tomorrow, Kayode Are will not claim that he was “only following [General Obasanjo’s] orders”: while General Obasanjo will also be facing trials for his own crimes, he, Colonel Are, has presented to the world independent and damning evidence against his own self for his direct criminal role and conduct in this matter. We will never forget—neither will the World!

The Nigerian SSS thinks that there are only 2 million MASSOB members? We can’t help but laugh at this. Every Biafran is a MASSOB member; even unborn Biafran babies are already MASSOB members; because every Biafran wants Biafra; and each Biafran is committed to that goal, no matter what it takes, no matter how long it takes. The SSS just doesn’t get it.

On a related front, Nigeria continues its descent into the abyss—a dark place from which there is neither light nor return. In the manner of the relevant Biblical story, “their hearts have been hardened”—from General Obasanjo to the political class to the sycophants and to the ardent one-Nigerianists. There is only one result from such hardening of heart: it is the fulfillment, without fail, of the predetermined destiny of Nigeria, which is total disintegration. Every day, Nigeria fights itself, and the political class and so-called leaders act like confused, spineless persons desperate for any source of corrupt money and or power, which they are determined to grab for—at any cost. There is a huge disconnect between them and the ordinary masses languishing in abject poverty, depravity, deprivation and neglect.  Perhaps, it is these same masses who will finally rise and inflict on Nigeria the finishing uppercut, to put it out of its misery and release the peoples from the comatose and wobbling entity.

For your part, notify and counsel every Biafran: waste no time on Obasanjo’s Third Term machinations—whether in defense or in opposition. If either Obasanjo or any of the Caliphates is the head of Nigeria and Biafrans still find themselves in Nigeria in 2007, how will that help our people? It won’t! It is also a waste of effort to try to place an Igbo in the presidency slot. Even if he wins (unlikely), our experience of the Igbo in the political class is that they immediately sell out our people, concentrate on bettering other parts of Nigeria, if for nothing else, for fear of being seen as “nepotistic.” Such Igbo president of Nigeria (oxymoron) will be worse than Obasanjo and the Caliphates, alone or combined. Nor should Biafrans waste time on the creation of the extra Igbo state: just ask them how our people in the existing states are fairing—or have been fairing—all these years.  States have not improved education or schools, Healthcare or disease status; power supply, fuel supply, jobs—you name it. All that an extra state would do is create another pompous commander of convoys and motorcades on bad or non-existent roads—paths, really; and increase the pool of the political class and sycophants, like flies drawn to carrion: nothing will be done for the benefit of the people. As long as we find ourselves in Nigeria, our woes are unending. So, let’s carry this message to all Biafrans, most especially to our youth and Youth organizations.  In this day and age, we should have—we have—just one focus: Biafra actualization: Biafra.  Remember: that’s what our masses want. That’s what the great majority of our people want. There is a good reason—no, great reason—for that. Our only hope is Biafra—from the unborn to the oldest Biafran. Biafra is not just hope for our welfare, our wellbeing and our fulfillment: it is also hope for basic survival as individuals and hope for collective survival as a people, as a nation, as a culture. If you allow your life to be snuffed out, what good are you? If you allow our people and our nation to be annihilated, where will you stand, what will you stand on? That is why we must leave Nigeria. If 2007 ever comes to Nigeria, we will not participate in their elections; instead, we will work out ways to impose and express our Biafran sovereignty.

Be ready: whenever Nigeria’s last moment comes, Biafra is the only thing to be left standing for our people.

Biafra alive! because God makes it so.

That’s the News Analysis for the week.  Thank you.
