This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcasts

For March 18th, 2006

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

Fellow Biafrans:

Boycott the planned Nigeria Census of March 2006!

Obviously, one hot news item is that Mazi Peter Obi of APGA has been installed as the rightful Governor of Anambra, upturning the PDP election fraud of 2003 which happened all over Biafraland to deny APGA the electoral mandate and chance which you, our people, gave APGA. But do you know what is important about this? It is not APGA, it is not Mr. Obi. It is not the courts. It is YOU. It is YOUR VERY ACTION! 3 years ago, right here, on several VOBI broadcasts, we appealed to you to cast a unity and solidarity vote—in the name of Biafra, on behalf of Biafra, for APGA / Ojukwu, as a demonstration of the power of Biafran people when they act with one mind and speak with one voice. Against all odds, in spite of mockery by a few, you followed our suggestion and went out and expressed your commitment to Biafra by voting en masse for APGA. On that day, Biafra won—you won, for Biafra; you won on behalf of Biafra. Obi / APGA, on March 15 2006 is one visible result of that win, including the fact that APGA is to be reckoned with in Nigeria today. We are proud of you and your accomplishments.

So, the time has come again. We appeal to you, this time, to boycott the Nigerian census. We have placed so many factual reasons to support that boycott below, and brought them up in the past. Nevertheless, as in voting for APGA in 2003, the boycott of the Nigeria census should be done in the name of Biafra,  because of Biafra, on behalf of Biafra, and for Biafra. We are Biafrans. Let us show Nigeria and the world again that when we as Biafrans unite in purpose and action related to Biafran business, we accomplish whatever it is we set our minds to do. Let’s show unity and solidarity for Biafra by boycotting the Nigeria census. Do it for Biafra, as a Biafran, just like you did three years ago.

It is true: the NPC (National Population Council) says its main concern is getting census figures which will be acceptable to Nigerian politics; you know what that means: the census is already rigged—in favor of Northern Nigeria and Western Nigeria and their politics. So, it’s not about accurate enumeration.

In the North, Igbo people living there wanting to go home to Igboland before the census are being intimidated, threatened and blackmailed, and as such, being held hostages: just to make sure that the Igbo count is added to the North! This is a fact reported in the newspaper.

The same goes in Lagos State: the Igbo are being blackmailed: they cannot travel to Igboland to be counted there, or else…

The NPC will not allow the Igbo to return before the census to Igboland to be counted in Igboland; it had in the past threatened the Igbo with criminal prosecution if they try.

Whatever you do, stay away from, and or ignore the census enumerators!

Say No! to the census because it will reduce Ndi Igbo to a minority ethnic group, since ethnicity and religion have been excluded from the census data to please the Muslims and Northerners, and Obasanjo!

Avoid the census because it does not satisfy the criteria laid down by the United Nations for censuses all over the world, since it lacks the validation and cross-referencing data of ethnicity and religion in a “country” where those two parameters count supreme!

Refuse to be counted because Ndi Igbo outside Igboland are counted as non-Igbo and used to beef up the population of other Nigerian ethnic groups--to our own detriment!

Do not be fooled: the NPC is another INEC! you cannot trust it to deliver an unrigged product.

Don't forget: the NPC is run by Northern Nigerians with Obasanjo’s blessing, with only one purpose: to rig the census to favor Northern Nigeria and Western Nigeria. They describe this rigging as “politically expedient.”

Save the Igbo people, their language, and their culture by boycotting the census!

The census as planned is designed so that the true population of the Igbo will never be known—it won’t help us know how many Igbo there really are, and this is as a result of the deliberate and cynical census design by Nigeria to cheat and mock the Igbo.

The real reason for the census is to legitimize the North and the West taking a lion’s share of the resources from the East—this is a fact stated by NPC and the Nigerian government. Now, the fraudulent jockeying has already begun in the North and in the West, including Lagos.

Don’t be fooled because the EU is behind the census: remember that the first census of Nigeria was conducted by the colonial British and rigged by the British in favor of their favored Northern Nigeria—this is a fact: ditto, all subsequent censuses. EU’s interest in Nigeria is not the same as the interest of the peoples suffering and dying in Nigeria.

The majority of even Nigerians and the Nigerian Press, as well as CAN (Christian Association of Nigeria)  are opposed to this census, but feel that there is nothing they can do about it. This is a fact. (Just like there is nothing they can do about Obasanjo’s constitutional manipulations and anti-people government). But, lo and behold, there is something that YOU can do about it: refuse to participate! Boycott the census.

A bad and fraudulent census is bad and fraudulent: it is ALWAYS better to NOT participate in such injustice and immorality, unless you want to legitimize fraud and injustice. We won’t! You shouldn’t. Therefore, boycott the census.

Do not participate in a census designed to undercount you, and used to divert your own resources to other areas. To participate will not only be suicidal, but also terribly morally wrong.

In the name of your beloved nation, Biafra, on behalf of Biafra, for the sake of Biafra, and to show the power of Biafra, boycott the Nigeria census. In God’s name, for God does not support injustice.

Biafra alive: because God makes it so.

Biafra is the answer!

That’s the News Analysis for the week.  Thank you.
