This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International broadcasts

For November 6th, 2004

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

“My peoples and my nations shall not be sacrificed for the sake of preserving a worthless idea called Nigeria.” So speaketh the Lord. And so it is.

“The peoples and their nations must live and thrive, though the name and concept of Nigeria die. The peoples and their nations must not, and will not, be allowed to perish just to save a dying Nigeria.” So says the Lord.

Fellow Biafrans: the Word of God is Canon: Createdness is, without exception, held to it.

We will examine the statements and attitudes issuing from the recent Igbo Leadership Retreat held in Asaba. It is clear to us that many attendants there must not share, could not and would not share the idiotic statements made by Sam Egwu and Adolphus Wabara: even the typical or average Igbo-Biafran is too intelligent for that. Our enemies, led now by, and personified as, General Obasanjo, usually credited more with a combination of brutishness and a “Messiah complex” than with insight or discernment—yes: even he—would have problems with these statements.

Efulefu Egwu starts with a typical sycophantic attribution of “able leadership” to General Obasanjo and his regime, but then goes on to shed crocodile tears about “marginalization of Ndigbo.”  Well, Obasanjo is on his third term as the ruler of Nigeria where Ndigbo, even by Egwu’s own admission, were marginalized, are still marginalized, and have always been marginalized. So, what then justifies the characterization of Obasanjo and his administration as “able leadership”?  It’s all in the name, folks. Sam Egwu needs to return to his roots and find out what his family name really means, and learn from the message of that name. While he is doing that, even Obasanjo could not fail to catch the stark inconsistency—actually, dishonesty.

Without pausing, Sam Egwu lurches into another idiocy. He assures his slave master, General Obasanjo, and the rest of Igbo-Biafran tormentors, that Biafrans would never secede from Nigeria because Ndigbo-Biafrans have invested too much in Nigeria and would stand to lose their property in other parts of Nigeria should they do so. General Obasanjo will smile with satisfaction at this one, and so will Nigeria. Here, Mr. Egwu is reflecting the profile that they, Nigeria,  have painted of Igbo-Biafrans—people so into money and property and investment that nothing else matters, not even their own freedom and liberty. Well, Sam Egwu was describing only himself and those few Igbo-Biafrans who used ill-gotten money to acquire wealth and investment outside of Biafraland. The Biafrans who used honest industry—the natural trait of Biafrans—to amass wealth anywhere will of course understand that international laws respect and protect property-ownership rights. The legal property of a citizen of the sovereign state of Biafra is protected by International property laws. By contrast, any property owned by any Biafran outside of Biafraland today, in Nigeria, under the present structure called one Nigeria, is not safe.  As a matter of fact, such property is already marked for dispossession or destruction. Sadly, the same can be said of Biafrans’ property even on Biafran soil. Nigerians can destroy such property, without warning, without reason, without accountability, at any time, at any location—this is happening today, as we speak! So, what Igbo / Biafran property and investments in Nigeria is Sam Egwu speaking about? Is it the ones that Obasanjo and his people will take away anytime, or Northerners will confiscate or burn down whenever it pleases them? The fact is that the very situation of our being under one-Nigeria structure actually jeopardizes all our property, not just elsewhere in Nigeria, but right here in our own homeland in Biafraland. Thus, it is Nigeria, not Biafra, which poses the only danger to our property anywhere.

We have to ask ourselves: is Sam Egwu really saying that although he understands(?) how bad things are for our people in Nigeria numbering up to 40 million or so, that for the sake of preserving the property of perhaps a few thousand Igbo-Biafrans in other parts of Nigeria, that we, as a people, should continue to stay in Nigeria and thus, allow ourselves to be subjugated by Nigeria forever, without putting effort into getting ourselves out of harm’s way? We think that that is precisely what Sam Egwu is saying; you, then, be the judge. He wants us to be annihilated in, and by, Nigeria just so that we can protect his investments in Nigeria—imagine that! And he conveniently forgets that 40 years of our being in / under one Nigeria has not protected any of our property or investment in Nigeria or sadly, even in our own homeland, Biafraland, from ongoing targeted, malicious, policy-driven, government-supported and sponsored systematic dispossession and destruction.

Does Sam Egwu really think that by attacking and negating the agenda of MASSOB, that he is finding favor with Obasanjo? Well, whatever Egwu thinks is his own problem. Three things are clear. First, our people want MASSOB; our people like MASSOB, and are going with MASSOB agenda for Biafra. That is the message and significance of August 26. Second, General Obasanjo now knows for sure that our people support MASSOB and that MASSOB agenda is the only real Igbo-Biafran agenda: so does the rest of Nigeria—they all know. Third, we shall have Biafra—it is only a matter of time—regardless of the uninformed and cowardly opinion of Sam Egwu and his ilk.

How cowardly?  Every nation in Nigeria is looking after its own self-interest and has plans to be independent of Nigeria. MASSOB is doing the same for Biafra. Sam Egwu who knows too well that we have serious and profound, lethal problems with and in Nigeria, is doing exactly nothing about it—correction: he is actually helping the enemy to kill and dispossess us, his own people. He, as a so-called governor, has the duty, and could do something, to protect his own people from all those wrongs he himself enumerated with his own mouth. But, Sam Egwu cannot and will not do something to help our people. Instead, he has the guts to stand there and criticize and denigrate MASSOB who is at least doing something to help our people—in fact, doing the only definitive thing that will actually help our people for good. Sam Egwu has proven himself as “a dog in the manger”; that is not enough for him, he is now barking and biting, for his master.

Just take a look at some of the people that were invited to that meeting. Enahoro, for example, traveled the world over between 1968 and 1970 justifying the use of starvation by Nigeria and her partners-in-crime, accomplished by the total blockade of Biafra, as a weapon of war against Biafrans. This was later classified as genocide by a remorseful international community. Many of our children and elderly and pregnant women died as a result of that; survivors were impaired for life. The same man, Enahoro, is now invited to Sam Egwu’s high-table while Sam Egwu’s statement continues the support of ongoing genocide against our people, although he fully understands the implications. What a picture! What a shame.

And to hear Wabara speak of “…We must learn to be graceful losers and gracious winners in a fair contest…”—does that not make your blood want to boil? Wabara lost the Senate election and then proceeded to bribe and intimidate his way all the way up to the court system to steal that seat. He then turned around and did two more things: “settle” and hush the real winner of the seat; and then, sell his soul to Obasanjo pledging never to oppose him as a price for Obasanjo—fellow fraudster—supporting this crime. The same Wabara is today talking about a “fair contest”? The same Wabara is lecturing us about “graceful losers” and “gracious winners”? Persons like this actually think that they are getting away with this type of thing?

Fellow Biafrans: these persons make a mockery of leadership, morality, justice, decency and honesty; they give us a bad name. But, they cannot deceive us any more. We know who our real leaders are, and they are not to be found at this retreat. We know what our agenda is—Biafra actualization. We support MASSOB and its leadership and we entrust them with carrying out the Biafra actualization agenda. And, as far as that goes, anyway, not even their slave master, Obasanjo / Nigeria, will believe the Sam Egwu’s, Irukwu’s Nnamani’s and others, any more either. They have washed out for sure.

Keep your focus on Biafra actualization. Be not perturbed by the utterances of efulefu’s and sycophants and their masters. Biafra is yours—ours—by God’s doing. So it is.

Biafra alive!

That’s the news analysis for the week. Thank you.

God bless and keep Biafra, and you, until our next broadcast. Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcast continues (http://www.biafraland.com/vobi.htm) with the summary of the News Analysis in Igbo language.
