This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International broadcasts
For July 31st, 2004
You have heard the news; now, the analysis…
“My peoples and my nations shall not be sacrificed for the sake of preserving a worthless idea called Nigeria.” So speaketh the Lord. And so it is.
“The peoples and their nations must live and thrive, though the name and concept of Nigeria die. The peoples and their nations must not and will not be allowed to perish just to save a dying Nigeria.” So says the Lord.
Fellow Biafrans: We stand by the Word of God because the Word of God is God.
Just this week the Yoruba leaders met to consider the candidates for the 2007 Nigeria Presidential elections. Keep in mind that Biafrans are not interested in the fraud and hypocrisy called Nigerian elections. As a matter of fact, we have no interest in Nigeria at all, other than to get out of it and reclaim our own Sovereign Nation of Biafra. Our only interest is Biafra—Biafra actualization. But, we use this example to once again bring to light what is wrong with Professor Irukwu’s direction with Ohaneze.
Yes, the Yoruba specifically stated that they want to pick and support a candidate who “...would best serve the interest of the Yoruba race.” Notice: they did not say that they want somebody who will serve the best interest of Nigeria. The Yoruba are not interested in a bridge-builder or in bridge-building—no! They are only interested in the Yoruba race, what is best for the Yoruba race. And, they do not keep this a secret; they came out and stated this openly and clearly in a newspaper, without any reservation, without any apologies, without any equivocation.
It is in this foreground that we have to evaluate the performance of Professor Irukwu as the President of Ohaneze. We single out Professor Irukwu based on his statements and on his behavior. We also understand that the rest of Ohaneze are not with him. This is a good thing for Ohaneze, though Ohaneze must show courage and officially declare its stand as completely contrary to that of Professor Irukwu.
Professor Irukwu gave a newspaper interview where he stated that the goal of Ohaneze is for Ndigbo to “build bridges” to other ethnic groups in Nigeria in order to maintain a strong one-Nigeria. Why continue to place the burden of keeping Nigeria one on Ndigbo? Why not make it a mission of Ohaneze to get Ndigbo-Biafrans to come together among themselves and support Biafra and Biafra actualization, which represents the highest and best interest of Ndigbo? You see, all the time we have been building those bridges, what have the other nations living in Nigeria been doing? They, like the Yoruba, have been doing what is in the best interest of their own respective nations and races. Instead of our doing that, Professor Irukwu is still talking of "building bridges."
We have also learned that the same Professor Irukwu in a different setting has been arguing that the unprovoked killing of Ndigbo in Kano recently was a purely religiously motivated issue. This is basically so that he would not have to admit that these killings are in fact targeted killings: Igbo and other Biafrans are the target of ongoing killings in the North by the Northerners. Everybody knows that. But, Professor Irukwu would like to deny it: why? So that he can please someone who is paying him to keep Ndigbo quiet and suppressed. He is suppressing the truth in order to remain in the good books of his handlers and those that “settle” him. So he won’t have to challenge the Northern leaders, including Babangida, and his other master, Obasanjo. All this, at the expense of his own people, and he is supposed to be the President of Ohaneze which purports to look after Igbo interests?
But, consider the hypocrisy. Those Igbo who continue to stay in the North, are they not doing the same Professor Irukwu’s "bridge-building"? And, when they are unjustly murdered in unprovoked attacks deliberately targeting Igbos in the North by the Northerners, what do they hear from Professor Irukwu? Something like...“Oh, never mind; these are just religious riots; let’s go on building bridges—more, more, more bridges; you will get killed, but not because you are a bridge builder--Igbo, it is just a matter of difference of religion...” Such consolation!
We recommend that Professor Irukwu come clean and tell us who is paying him and what he received. We also want him to state who else in Ohaneze are on Obasanjo and Babangida’s payroll. We have seen no indication that Iwuanyanwu has recognized the aru he committed against his people using his office and membership of Ohaneze to force Obasanjo over us; never mind shown remorse or making atonements. We also note that by his being given a committee chair in the present Ohaneze, Iwuanyanwu is in a position to continue to work for Obasanjo and other Northern and one-Nigeria interests. There may be other individuals working covertly as spies for those whose only love is to torment Ndigbo-Biafra.
We also recommend very strongly that Professor Irukwu resign as the President of Ohaneze; failing that, Ohaneze needs to remove him from that office. Professor Irukwu is a damaging influence whose interest is one-Nigeria agenda, instead of what is in the interest of Ndigbo-Biafrans. And, Ohaneze needs to counter Professor Irukwu’s recent statements and dissociate itself from him. Keep in mind that if Ohaneze allows Obasanjo and one-Nigerian plants in that organization to take over and use Ohaneze as an instrument to extend Obasanjo, Babangida, North and Nigeria’s ongoing agenda against, and control of, Ndigbo, nobody will be able to stop the fury of the people of Biafra.
We urge our Biafran youths to be vigilant. We urge Biafran youth not to be corrupted by the hush money paid out by Obasanjo, Babangida, and Nigeria, through their agents even in Ohaneze, because as much as we are all suffering, when we succumb out of dire need and allow the same buyers of our so-called leaders to buy us off, too, when and how will it end? How are we going to put an end to it? It is best we stop the cycle now, say, No! to Irukwu and Iwuanyanwu and other “settled” Ohaneze and their money, maintain our honesty and our dignity, and act with courage in the face of deceit, hypocrisy and betrayal..
Fellow Biafrans: Professor Irukwu has been settled. While other nations in Nigeria are seeking what is in the best interest of their own nations, Professor Irukwu has been bought to use Ohaneze to force Ndigbo to continue instead to sustain one-Nigeria, at the expense of our own people. We do not need persons like that in Ohaneze. He should go. And, if we find out that Ohaneze, too, has been hopelessly infested with paid one-Nigeria agenda agents, we should abandon Ohaneze without hesitance. Our survival as a nation is at stake, but we are being sold out. Let’s put a stop to that now.
Biafra lives, by God’s doing. It is established..
That’s the news analysis for the week. Thank you.
God bless and keep Biafra, and you, until our next broadcast. Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcast continues (http://www.biafraland.com/vobi.htm) with the summary of the News Analysis in Igbo language
