This is the News Analysis segment of the Voice of Biafra International broadcasts

For February 28th 2004

You have heard the news; now, the analysis…

“My peoples and my nations shall not be sacrificed for the sake of preserving a worthless idea called Nigeria .” So speaketh the Lord. And so it is.

“The peoples and their nations must live and thrive, though the name and concept of Nigeria die. The peoples and their nations must not and will not be allowed to perish just to save a dying Nigeria .” So says the Lord.

Fellow Biafrans: the Word of God is real, more real than Heaven and Earth. Of that, you can remain certain.

As you conclude this day with this broadcast, remember that this VOBI broadcast is a befitting tribute to our great Biafran hero, General Philip Effiong, who was earlier in the day laid to rest by a host and a multitude of Biafrans. How befitting it is too, that even in death, he ennobles our people of Biafra by providing another opportunity to teach our people the wisdom of Biafra which the General, Effiong, himself exemplified in life, and now, in death.

A few years ago, the General was invited to the US as a Keynote Speaker at the World Igbo Congress (WIC) convention, at a time when WIC was being run by men who had not much Biafra-sense; and the convention attendees were in coma when it comes to matters of Biafra . When any other self-serving and pompous ignorant speaker would have been making sycophantic noises to angle for a position in the fraud called Nigeria governance (in fact, WIC leadership and membership at the time, were too busy doing just that), the General wasted no time in telling the clearly wayward WIC jamboree that the danger that dogged Biafra in 1966 which was supposed to have been resolved by the War, is still lurking among us today. When the other persons—many of them sporting the pompous and useless title of “SAN”—invited by WIC to sit at the hightables were tripping over themselves falsely praising or making empty boasts of what Nigeria was doing for Biafrans in Nigeria, General Effiong, with characteristic military efficiency and precision, and with the characteristic effectiveness of Biafran wisdom dispensed in parables, stated the Truth and the facts, and sought to make sure that every Biafran there and elsewhere never forgets:

“Agwo ka no n’akirika.”

Five words—only!

While the other empty barrels made their noise for scores of minutes and reveled in hearing their own voices in the name of speech-making, the wise Biafran General spoke for just 10 minutes, more or less, to remind us of clear and present danger for Biafrans while we live in Nigeria .

Five words!  Less than ten minutes of talk! It does not get better than this. Such is our hero and champion, the quintessential Biafran that we know as General Philip Effiong. Such is the wisdom of Biafra . Such is the efficiency of Biafra . Such is the effectiveness of Biafra , such the honesty and candor. General Philip Effiong embodied all this.

Fellow Biafrans: compare and contrast this with what we are now facing today. We have so-called leaders who either do not understand what “Agwo no n’akirika” means, or do not understand the language at all. For example, persons like Orji Uzor Kalu who would not content himself with blaming Biafrans for a war of survival for Biafra , of which if we had not fought or if we had really, really  lost, he, Kalu, would not be around to demonstrate this shaming stupidity today. Orji Uzor Kalu wants Biafrans to apologize to Nigeria for the war which Nigeria started, and in which Nigeria almost annihilated Biafrans by genocide and by acts classified as war crimes by the United Nations. When our people who have thus far remained sleepy on related issues took exception to this inane suggestion, Kalu proceeded to build a mosque in Umuahia. Here we see an example of not just ignorance and total lack of understanding, but a prime example of foolishness and stupidity. Now that Kalu has a mosque in Biafra heartland, Biafrans living in Muslim North are safer, right? Their property is now guaranteed to be safer there, right? The lives of our Biafran people living in the North, all of a sudden, are no longer threatened because Kalu built a mosque in Umuahia, right? The lives of our people living even in our own land, Biafraland, are now better, and Nigeria is respecting our people, or allowing us to keep our own natural and God-given resources, and Nigeria is not killing and injuring us, right?

The likes of Orji Uzor Kalu exemplify everything that is wrong and everything that is contrary to the wisdom of Biafra , the character of Biafra and the nature of Biafra . In this, he is in the company of Chris Ngige. Chris Ngige disgraced not just Biafra but the entire humanity by his own personal conduct during the fraud called the Nigerian elections of April 2003. A sensible person would have resigned there and then. While our people took a stand against Obasanjo’s meddling and dictatorship and PDP’s nefarious and evil grip on Anambra, and more importantly, took a stand for sweeping away PDP-Obasanjo-Uba-Ngige fraud, dirt and soot, in favor of APGA who received the people’s mandate in the first place, Ngige mistook this as support for himself. It didn’t take but a few hours to once again reveal his true colors. Chris Ngige came out and announced that Anambra is a PDP party-only State, and that APGA was non-existent in the State. In his stupidity, Ngige failed to understand what he himself was saying. PDP is the root-cause of his personal problems, and the root-cause of Anambra’s problems, dating way back to 1999. Ngige had only survived thus far, not because of PDP, but in spite of PDP, but really because he was benefiting from the people’s strong protest against PDP-Obasanjo-Uba-Ngige complex. But, Ngige immediately steals the people’s victory, then turns around, and hands himself and the government and governance—and therefore, the people—back to PDP! Who rule PDP? Is that not Obasanjo and Uba?  Who were looting Anambra treasury? Is it not PDP, Obasanjo and Uba? Now, just like he swore at the shrine to do, is Ngige not joining in looting Anambra, not just by handing Anambra back to PDP, but by also promising to buy cars and gifts for his supporters? Where do you think he is going to get the money from to fulfill this latter promise?

And then, there is Iwuanyanwu. There is Arthur Nzeribe. And the other so-called governors and operatives of Nigerian States in Biafraland. These are persons so drunk with the little delegated power begrudged to them by their Nigerian lords and masters, for the sole purpose of maintaining the subjugation, oppression and suppression of their own Biafran people. These are persons feeding fat off the crumbs falling from the tables of their Nigerian lords and masters, tables designated specifically for the dogs, mind you, and mongrels of their Nigerian lords and masters. These persons are allowed to feed off the gutters and sewage in the yards of their Nigerian lords and masters. And, these persons think that they are doing just fine; and they want to continue to force the rest of us Biafrans into staying in one-Nigeria! For what? For these crumbs? For the dogs’ left-overs?  For false power? For sewage?

Fellow Biafrans, it is these things that stand adjudged by the life, the person and the example of General Philip Effiong, a true Biafran, our true Biafran hero. General Effiong would never even let this type of behaviors cross his mind, not to speak of acting out such dastardly behaviors. These are behaviors unbecoming of Biafrans. These behaviors are stupid, foolish, ignorant, shortsighted and shameful and evil. They are contrary to everything that Biafra stood for and that Biafra stands for. They stand in stark contradistinction to what General Effiong represented and portrayed as a Biafran.

We cannot tell how long any of us will live. But, we ask that the generation that first raised and carried the Biafran flag—General Effiong’s mates—we ask that you make up your mind now and return to your true love, which is Biafra . We ask that like General Effiong, you stick true to your original conviction about Biafra , and make a declaration of it today and for the rest of your life. We ask you to complete what you started, because that is the way to find peace of mind, so that whenever the inevitable comes around, you, we can say: “I did the correct thing, Biafra; I completed my life’s task!” A grateful Nation of Biafran thanks you now and in the future.

As for the rest of us, especially the Youth, let us not emulate the sycophants and the efulefu-agents, servants and operatives of Obasanjo-PDP-Nigeria, no matter how rich and how “powerful” they are or they claim to be. Instead, let us follow the example of General Philip Effiong and other true Biafran leaders like him, those wise Biafrans who can still clearly see that “Agwo ka no n’akirika,” and who, at the same time, possess enough integrity to tell us the truth; those who not only just remind us of the endemic danger, but in so doing, also challenge and call us to action to confront the danger effectively.

And confront this danger we must, fellow Biafrans! We have been handed the baton, and we must finish our leg of the task in flying colors, the colors of the Biafran flag, flying high and free, among those of other Sovereign Nations of the world. This is in fact how God has willed it: a Sovereign Independent Nation of Biafra.

Thus, Biafra lives. So do you, Biafran: make it real!

That’s the news analysis for the week. Thank you.

God bless and keep Biafra , and you, until our next broadcast. Voice of Biafra International (VOBI) broadcast continues (http://www.biafraland.com/vobi.htm)
